Wissem, Jozef -van- : Ex mortis

The compositions on 'Ex Mortis, the 2020 release from the lute player, are inspired by 'The Book Of Gostlye Grace', which was written by nuns in the convent of Helfta (Germany) in the 1290s.

Witche's Brew : White trash sideshow

Limited vinyl version. Witche's Brew band was born from the association of two well-known soloists of the Italian music scene: Mirko Zonca, pioneer of the Psychedelic Grunge in the late 1980s, and Mirko Bosco, ex guitar player of the historic DISPER-AZIONE band (1985 - 89), recently back in Italy after a ten-year adventure in the USA. Confident of their many years experience as musicians, Witche's Brew immediately started to work on new productions and re-editing of music pieces from the personal repertoire of the members. The result is a sound that widely hints to the Seventies atmosphere, with blues and psychedelic nuances but the same strength as Black Sabbath. After an initial period of adjustment, the band (under the final form of a Power Trio) set out for a journey that would have led it to perform almost exclusively abroad. In March 2009, during the Austrian tour, Witche's Brew record a live EP ("Pentatonicspeedfreacks") later published by a label from Pisa, COSTA OVEST RECORDS. A few changes occurred to the bands line up during its history: drummer Max Baxter (ex Warning shock, Insound) substituted the session man Yggy Leonetti, and was lately replaced by Joseph Solci, who finally completed the line up and added a further rock'n'roll "kick" to Witche's Brew's sound.

Witchfinder : Forgotten mansion

This relevant visual and sonic follow-up to their EP 'Endless Garden' features gloomy atmospheres, explores the horror topic and spreads a massive blast of fuzz. The addition of keyboardist Kevyn Raecke propels their already ultra-thick sounding into a cathedral-esque dimension; both theatrical and heavy. The psychedelic touch is cleverly highlighted here over a substantial doom cushion. Wood, Ruby : Sincerely

Ruby Wood releases her debut solo EP 'Sincerely'. Ruby is a vocalist and songwriter hailing from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, perhaps best known as lead vocalist of the Submotion Orchestra. She also toured as lead vocalist for Bonobo's live band, for Nubiyan Twist, and with hugely successful 1940's-esque vocal trio, The Sugar Sisters. 'Sincerely' is comprised of five tracks, firmly based in the realms of hip hop soul and neo soul sonically, with a '90s R&B vibe throughout.

Wooden Tape : Music from another place

Musician and writer Tim Maycox debuts under the alias Wooden Tape. His album 'Music From Another Place' is a timeless collection of music that recalls pastoral lands, summer months and folk rituals. During the 2 years they were actively recording they released 2 demo cassettes and a 7" single before other bands and projects took the members in different directions. Woods, Carol : Out of the woods

Fully licensed reissue on 180 gram vinyl. Carol Woods was born in Jamaica, New York in 1943. She was deeply influenced by her grandfather, a Pentecostal minister, and her mother Marion Jones, which led her to become lead singer with the local church choir. A necessary soulful album long out of print. Recorded in London and published on Ember (British label formed in the early 1960s by club owner and promoter Jeffrey S. Kruger, owner of the Flamingo Club, London) in 1971, 'Out Of The Woods' is still a shiny gem on its own. The four tracks on her singles were included and the rhythm section backing tracks for the remainder were put down by Beau Ray Fleming (well known for his studio work with Mandrill) in New York. Ember's producer Mike Berry then added Carol's vocals and the horn section. Woods' vocals are full and rich and the record has a sort of post-Supremes vibe with an obvious seventies approach. Since that time Carol has found success in stage musicals, such as 'One Mo Time' where she took over the role of Big Bertha Williams, the hard drinking Vaudeville star. She has also appeared in movies, including Eddie Murphy 'Raw' where she played Eddie's aunt.

World Destroyer's Pleasure Club : World destroyer's pleasure club

World Destroyer's Pleasure Club are based in Los Angeles. The core members are Neight Trion (The Black Angels, The Shine Brothers), Rocky (Death Valley Girls), Jay Eraser (Grooms, Roya), Oh-Ra (?) and Malware (Dead Meadow). When asked to describe their strange, mutant music some fans and even members have found it difficult to do so. For this reason they have chosen the term Polywave as their designated genre which they envision as including other forms of expression besides music, a tendency to be hyper-eclectic and bearing the distinguishing mark of a commitment to continual, intentional self-transformation. The band has drawn comparisons to Talking Heads, The Fall, Butthole Surfers and Peter Gabriel. As influences they cite artists as varied as Hailu Mergia, Psychic TV, Scott Walker, Fela Kuti and Red Crayola, but these influences dont necessarily reveal themselves sonically as much as resembling the spirit in which they were conceived.

Wormhog : Yellow sea (yellow)

Wormhog is a stoner prog band based in Athens, Greece. The band's first EP, 'Mother Worm Father Hog', was released in 2014 and was recorded live at D Studio in Athens. Being loyal supporters of everything that's heavy, Wormhog draws inspiration from bands such as Black Sabbath, Mastodon, Alice In Chains and Blue Oyster Cult. Clearly influenced by their musical background, the band's main direction in songwriting is retro grooves merged with progressive twists and swirling guitar solos. After years of steady presence in the Athens underground music scene, the band released their first LP, 'Yellow Sea' which was once again recorded, mixed and produced at D Studio, Athens by Mihail Karpathiou. "A trip through space, a strange eclipse of the sun, the birth of a monster, it's fall from the sky and into the Yellow Sea". This album vaguely unveils the origins and nature of the wormhog beast while also exploring other themes concerning the journey of life. Transparent yellow vinyl version.

Woven Entity : Two

Woven Entity are Patrick Dawes, Lascelle Lascelles and Paul May; three percussionists and drummers with a huge range of playing experience between them, from dance music to jazz, rock and folk to free improvisation and all points inbetween. Their credits have included Groove Armada, Brand New Heavies, Campag Velocet, The Herbaliser, Petra Jean Phillipson, Richie Havens, Duke Garwood, Beth Orton to name a few. Woven Entity is an improvisational group, inspired by a diverse range of influences from '70s free jazz to Krautrock to post punk to dub, Afrobeat and Tropicalia. They make a lush, joyful noise that tickles the brain and mobilises the body at the same time.
