Ze, Tom : Todos os olhos

'Todos Os Olhos' is one of the most emblematic and essential records of the confrontational music of Brazil. By denouncing, criticizing, and mocking the trend of "heroes" who made "protest music" at the time, Tom Zé signed his eremitic letter of exclusion but not without "contest the contestation." Excommunicated from the MPB and even from Tropicália, in 'Todos Os Olhos' Tom Zé presented, with a lot of courage, an unusual way of fight Brazil's military dictatorship. All that would be later triggered in Tom Zé's career is here, always ready for a new rediscovery. Reissued for the first time outside of Brazil, 'Todos Os Olhos' is one of the most important Brazilian records of all time. Tom Zé is considered the most "paulista" of all Tropicalistas. He came from Bahia, but his wry urban poetry, infused with the uncomfortable sounds of the largest metropolis of South America, is pure Sao Paulo. The tracks 'Complexo De Epico,' 'Cademar,' 'Um "OH" E Um "AH",' 'Augusta, Angélica E Consolaçao' and 'O Riso E A Faca' were included in 'Brazil Classics 4: The Best Of Tom Zé,' compiled by David Byrne and released by Luaka Bop in 1990. This reissue includes unseen photos, new testimonials from Tom Zé himself and a lengthy article signed by Bento Araujo, author of the book series 'Lindo Sonho Delirante.'

Ze, Tom : Tom ze

After a few "strategic mistakes" in his career, Tom Zé found a new home at the Continental label. It was there that he made four albums for the remaining 1970s, beginning with this one. When this LP was released, in 1972, Tom Zé had a relentless interest in the unexplored, in the experiments, and in the unusual. These songs revealed a more mature Tom Zé, addressing social issues, outdated concepts, false traditions, and the hypocrisy from Brazil's military government. Reissued for the first time outside of Brazil, the press release warned: "1972 marks the beginning of a new phase in Tom Zé's career. He decided to move into simpler forms of writing and released an album that is a result of that." Tom Zé is considered the most "paulista" of all Tropicalistas. Zea & Oscar Jan Hoogland : Summing

A hypnotic groove under a playful song next to an Arabic melody on top of an improvised sound collage; the music made up of independent parts, all recorded in one take. The songs on this album are percussive and move on the poly rhythms of two parallel switched turbines. During the first half of the album we drive out the Dutch capital into the night. Then we wake up at sea, passing harbors and deserted island to end up in new Amsterdam. On the cover of the album you see a drawing of by Amsterdam cartoonist René Windig. At the back of the album you see Zea and Oscar Jan Hoogland live in the north of Ghana; it's the image of a duo that dug itself up from the future and dives headfirst into the world.

Emerging from the vibrant Palestinian electronic music scene, Zenobia have made a big impression over a short period of time: the band started performing a couple of years ago, and has already toured around the globe. Zenobia's music combines powerful beats, Levantine dabke rhythms and Arabic pop melodies. The band draw their inspiration from pop and folk music from all over the region (Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria). They refine their songs by taking them back and forth between their studio and the stage, where they improvise a lot, and feed off the audience reactions. The band consists of Nasser Halahlih and Isam Elias. Nasser was a pioneer in the local scene, he was arguably the first Palestinian electronic music producer, back in the late '90s. Young, fleet-fingered keyboardist Isam's background is in European classical music, he grew up in Nazareth, while Nasser hails from (and still lives) in Shefa Amr, a small town situated between Haifa and Nazareth.

Zerfas : Zerfas

This is probably one of the US private press scene's greatest treasures. The sole album published by this American five-piece was released in 1973 in a ridiculously small run and soon was elected as a contemporary cult. The band from Indianapolis consisted of brothers David Zerfas and Herman Zerfas, and was originally formed in 1969. While they released just a single self-titled album, they continued to play gigs until 1983. All the material is self-penned which comes as a surprise as the tracks are uniformly strong, with lots of keyboards, sound effects, and some outstanding harmonies. An excellent mix of proto-garage, psych and even prog with a strong effort on studio wizardly. A rare gem all in all!

Zeup : Mammals

The first full-length album by Danish stoner rockers Zeup. The album contains several examples of Zeup's recognizable straight-to-the-point metal-rock, but it also shows a more experimental side of the band's music, including two instrumental tracks. The album was recorded "live in the studio" at the legendary Sweet Silence Studios in Copenhagen involving a minimum use of click tracks, samples, auto-tune, or other digital magic tricks - just like they did it "back in the day".

Sergio Zevallos, a Peruvian artist based in Berlin, has been active since the 1980s when he was a member of the Chaclacayo Group, an artist collective in Peru dedicated to performance art. 'ATEM: Pieces For Actions And Installations (1999-2019)' compiles for the first time his field recordings, soundtracks based on the montage of vocal sounds and noises. Includes photos, drawings and notes written by Zevallos himself.

Reissue of Ziad Rahbani's cult album 'Bennesbeh Labokra... Chou?' released in Lebanon only and mixing Arabic music with jazz, bossa nova and other western influences. Hailed as an absolute classic, the album is the soundtrack to his eponymous play and has been highly sought-after by DJs and collectors around the world. Curated by Lebanese-born music expert Mario Choueiry from Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris, the album is reissued on vinyl for the first time since 1978, featuring original gatefold sleeve, remastered audio and a 2-page insert with a new introduction by Choueiry.

This is a compilation of the Los Angeles based punk metal band Zig Zags' music in sequential order of their release so that the listener can hear for themselves the evolution of the band's music. The first LP of the compilation, side 1 and 2 holds the band's project 10-12 that was released by Burger Records as a cassette. The cassette was limited to 300 but has long been sold out and pretty tough to find. This 2xLP release is also limited to 300 as a homage to Burger Records. The second LP, sides 3 and 4, is comprised of all of their single 7"s from Volcom Etertainment, In The Red Records, Chrome Banana, and Famous Class.

Ziguri is a music project that started in Berlin Kreuzberg in 1987 and has been back together after a break since 2011. The band consists of krautrock legend Günter Schickert (guitar), Udo Erdenreich (bass) and Dieter Kölsch (drums). On this album, ex-member Zam Johnson (synth) also joined the band again. Ziguri plays a kind of trance rock based on motorik drum and bass beats. A very special hypnotic note is given by Schickert's inimitable floating echo guitar patterns, through which he has earned a legendary reputation since the '70s.Mastering by Eroc.
