...FERDY KLEIN'S ORKESTRASI' - Sophisticated and passionate, with flamboyant taste in sunglasses, Cem Karaca once led Istanbul's music fans through a period of violent political turmoil. Karaca reworked traditional folk lyrics with molten electric bass lines that played up both a poet's broiling righteousness and also his listeners' common ground with their elders in Turkey's history. This is the second album from Karaca, released in 1974, reissued for the first time in picture disc with remastered sound. It leads the listener through Karaca's own musical history, skipping across various collaborations and bands up to his then-current project Dervisan. Can throbbing Anatolian guitars take on the assassins of the Grey Wolves? Imagine a hairy pied piper with R Kelly's flair for drama, wailing into a microphone over an electric baglama, and you're ready to enter the bohemian world of Papa Cem.

The missing link in Argentina's jazz history finally sees the light. 'Coraje Buenos Aires' was recorded in 1973, conceived as a follow-up to the historic 'Bronca Buenos Aires' (1971). More explicitly than its predecessor, the texts in 'Coraje' denounced the atrocities of the military junta that ruled the country, and the album was inevitably censored before being released. The tapes, thought to have been burnt and forever lost, were recently discovered in the archive of the late Jorge López Ruiz, allowing us to finally listen to 'Coraje' fifty years after being recorded. As usual, Jorge López Ruiz recruited some of the best musicians around to play with him, this time pianist Santiago Giacobbe, drummer Pocho Lapouble and guitarist Ricardo Lew (all three members of Quinteplus at that time), as well as Hugo Pierre and Jaime Prats on alto and tenor sax respectively. Mastered from the original tapes by Pablo López Ruiz. Includes foldout sheet with bilingual notes by author José Tcherkaski and an English translation of the album's song texts.

Acting and singing prodigy child Marisol is one of the greatest stars in Spain ever. She was incredibly big in her country, and her popularity soon reached other lands, some as far away as Japan where she issued some records and even recorded one of her hits in Japanese. Germany was another country that saw a market for a German-sung 45, as was Italy with a couple of rare Italian-sung tunes released. Marisol also sang in English, and even Chinese, as you will hear on the songs compiled on this LP, which features some of her non-Spanish sung sides alongside with very rare performances from TV appearances on vinyl for the first time ever!
