Originally released as a private cassette only release in 1974, this is the debut album of progressive folk-rock band Spriguns.Homemade, charming folk-rock with the lovely voice of Mandy Morton, 12-string guitars, dulcimer, mandolin, fiddle... Fabulous covers of 'Let No Man Steal Your Thyme,' 'Matty Groves' and more! Formed in the early '70s, Spriguns Of Tolgus evolved from the folk duo of Mandy & Mike Morton and the scene centered around their Anchor Folk Club in Cambridge. In 1974, the band (Mike and Mandy plus Rick Thomas and Chris Russon) decided to produce a recording to raise funds for new equipment. Using a small tape recorder and mixing desk, 'Rowdy Dowdy Day' was recorded live in the dining room at the band's rented house. A small number of cassettes were produced and subsequently sold at the Anchor Folk Club. With the original cassette impossible to find now, Guerssen is glad to present a vinyl edition. "We grew up in the '60s to the sound of The Beatles; we embraced flower power and all it brought with it; and we indulged ourselves in every type of music on offer. From America came The Byrds, Jefferson Airplane, Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan, and here in the UK we celebrated our own heroes, Pentangle, Fairport Convention, The Incredible String Band and later Steeleye Span." ~Mandy Morton. Supersempfft : Metaluna

Three Monks are a unique pipe-organ focused band from Arezzo, formed around organist/composer Paolo Lazzeri. Lazzeri was a prog-rock organist in the early 1970s. His influences came from the progressive rock of King Crimson and Van der Graaf Generator. "Neogothic Progressive Toccatas" will truly be a one of a kind in your progressive rock collection. The project is centered around the incredible pipe organ playing of Paolo Lazzeri supported by a thundering bass/drums rhythm sections and little else. This album is a church organ purist's dream. The various tracks are inspired by baroque composers and stories of cathedrals and their huge, historic pipe organs: the liner notes give specific historical information into each track's inspiration, some human, some cathedrals and instruments. The music is incredibly heavy, vast, formal, and tinged with centuries of age. You feel as if you are walking into one of those centuries old European cathedrals and hearing the bombast of the ancient organ, yet it is swirled into often dizzying progressive rock pieces. It is right compared to the bombast of ELP, Areknames, Jacula, VDGG, and Il Balletto di Bronzo, but with 100% pipe organ rather than varying kinds of keys or synths, vocals, or guitar. Most of the music is in the heavy vein with eccentric and baroque aesthetics. As a bonus there is a Goblin cover of "Profondo Rosso," the main theme being quite faithful to the original but heavier. This is followed by a tribute variation of the same, the band calling the original "one of the most significant rock compositions for the pipe organ.Three Monks is a band who should be heard by Heavy Prog fans and fans of serious organ and classically influenced prog

Titus Groan : Titus groan

This is an official re-release of Titus Groan's eponymous album originally released 1970 on Dawn under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management, UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG. Titus Groan were a short-lived British jazz-rock quartet, named after the first 'Gormenghast' novel by Mervyn Peake. The original album contained five tracks all over five minutes long, including one extended suite 'Hall Of Bright Carvings' with a running time of nearly twelve minutes. This reissue adds three bonus tracks to the album from an EP also released in 1970. The group, before their premature split, was four-strong, featuring Stuart Cowell (keyboards, guitars, vocals), Jim Toomey (drums), Tony Priestland (sax, flute, oboe) and John Lee (bass). Their sound was a lighter variant on the Van Der Graaf Generator school of prog, just without the discordant rumblings and shrieking vocals. Titus Groan means high energy melodic songs with lots of guitars. Sax, vocal harmonies, and great percussion work/drumming. There's occaisonal organ and electric piano, but mainly a much earlier guitar battling with flute, sax, and oboe sound. The first song 'It Wasn't For You' is very bluesy and grooves along with a restrained hard edge. The vocal sounds eerily like Ian Anderson. The guitar, which is strong and confident brings again Jethro Tull to mind, while the bass and percussion have a jazzier approach like Cream or King Crimson. Now that Titus Groan have grabbed our attention with the lively opening number, it's time for the extended nearly 12 minutes long four-piece suite 'Hall Of Bright Carvings'. This epic song is a real musical tour de force, featuring flamboyant flutes, heavy guitar riffing, booming bass-lines and pounding percussion. The dynamic contrast between the gently melodic pastoral passages combined with sudden explosive outbursts of musical artillery fire are what really sets this music alight with power and passion. Formed in Lewisham, southeast London, punk band The Business joined the Oi! scene after supporting The 4 Skins in 1981. Debut single 'Harry May' hit the Indie charts before the group disintegrated, leading frontman Micky Fitz to recruit new members. Then, in 1987, original guitarist Nick Kent joined Fitz for heavy metal side project UK, with former Tank drummer Mark Brabbs, channelling their love of AC/DC, Motörhead and Rose Tattoo. Waterloo : First battle

Regarded as one of the best European progressive rock albums from the '70s, the sole release by Belgian group Waterloo was originally released on the Vogue label in 1970. Entirely sung in English, 'First Battle' is a blend of progressive rock, psychedelia and heavy prog with top guitar/organ, flute and obvious Jethro Tull influence but with something else really of their own, making of it a very special album. First officially reissued by us in 2017 and long out of print, Guerssen presents an improved reissue in hard cardboard sleeve + obi and insert with liner notes and photos.

Waters, Roger : The berlin wall rehearsals, vol. 1 (2lp)

A couple of months prior to 'The Wall - Live In Berlin,' Roger Waters, alongside his regular touring group, The Bleeding Heart Band, settled in to London's Townhouse Studios to rehearse for the event. Nothing unusual there, but not only were these rehearsals recorded, they were also broadcast on a couple of small German radio channels, presumably to promote the coming show. Previously, this remained a largely unknown recording outside of the fatherland, but is now released on this two-instalment set for the first time on vinyl.

This is areissue of We All Together's essential debut full-length, originally released in 1972. Highly recommended to fans of late era Beatles and Badfinger, the LP is full of amazing compositions, with nods to prog rock and the twilight imprint of singer-songwriters living the end of the hippie dream.

White Willow : Signal to noise

White Willow's fifth studio album, 'Signal to Noise', was mixed and produced by Tommy Hansen (Helloween, TNT, Pagan's Mind, Circus Maximus). The line-up features singer Trude Eidtang (vocals), Lars Fredrik Froislie (keyboards, electronics), Jacob Holm-Lupo (guitars), Ketil Vestrum Einarsen (woodwinds), Marthe Berger Walthinsen (bass guitar) and Aage Moltke Schou (drums, percussion). The band took three weeks to record this instead of one year, but they have still managed to produce a multi-layered progressive rock album that twists and turns through many different styles yet still contains loads of mellotrons. Trude's voice has a good range, but there is an almost ethereal quality to it, a breathiness which adds to the overall feel of what is a very strong rock band with lots of ideas. This is good solid symphonic prog with loads of ideas. Originally released on CD in 2006, first time on vinyl. Limited to 400 copies on clear vinyl.
