Trifle : First meeting

Formed in 1969 and contracted in 1970 to the Pye group Dawn, the Trifle consisted of George Bean on vocals and guitar, Patrick Speedy King on bass, Barry Martin on saxophones, John Pritchard on trumpet and Rod Coombes on drums. Their sole album was released in 1971, blending elements of jazz and rock, while not disdaining few escapes into folk. RIYL: Cream, Colosseum, Graham Bond Organization. Comes in gatefold sleeve, limited to 500 copies.

Trimble, Bobb : Iron curtain innocence

Formed in Lewisham, southeast London, punk band The Business joined the Oi! scene after supporting The 4 Skins in 1981. Debut single 'Harry May' hit the Indie charts before the group disintegrated, leading frontman Micky Fitz to recruit new members. Then, in 1987, original guitarist Nick Kent joined Fitz for heavy metal side project UK, with former Tank drummer Mark Brabbs, channelling their love of AC/DC, Motörhead and Rose Tattoo. As Kent goes all-out with the hard rock solos and Fitz aims for the melodic, this is a great slice of New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, and a startling surprise for all Business fans! A thunderous stoner-sludge album shaking the foundations of all-things-heavy with its combination of amp-splitting power and red-eyed psychedelics. Under The Sun is a sludgerotic stoner band that emerged from the depths of heavy riffing and jamming, back in 2015. Inspired by historic '70s bands like Black Sabbath and embracing the sound of newer bands, like Orange Goblin, Kyuss, and C.O.C., Under The Sun forge their own sound that appeals to both fans of '70s heavy rock and stoner/doom music lovers. Passionate about creating music driven by fuzz-drenched guitars and groovy bass lines, Under The Sun operate on the event horizon between heavy-doom and sunbaked stoner-rock. Vanessa : Black and white

Existing somewhere between the post-psychedelic period of Soft Machine and the electric funk of Herbie Hancock's Headhunters, 'Black And White', the 1976 album from Norway's Vanessa is without question a formidable beast of a jazz-rock record. A potent brew of sonic experimentation and pulsating off-kilter groove. Taking their name from the genus of Nymphalidae butterfly, Vanessa was founded in 1971 by saxophonist Svend Undseth and pianist Frode Holm, the founder of the Oslo record store turned imprint Compendium Records. 'Black And White' is clearly influenced by the UK Canterbury scene, highlighted by Compendium's focus on the recordings of Soft Machine alumni Hugh Hopper and Elton Dean. Vanessa's spirit also lies synonymous with the collective pedigree on the label's roster including British progressive jazz stalwart Keith Tippett and Mirage (a UK group consisting of ex-members of Centipede and The Mike Westbrook Orchestra), together with the avant-rock collective Henry Cow and the experimental synthesiser-jazz of US ex-pat Joe Gallivan (together with Charles Austin).

Very exceptional artrock/underground, featuring a Hohner clavinet and Latin lyrics. Played by real talents and professionals and neatly recorded at the well-known Munich Union-Studio. Eddy Marron had been a professional musician since 1958, had performed in Innsbruck on the occasion of the 1964 Winter Olympics, and later made a name for himself with Dzyan and Missus Beastly. He died on February 6th, 2013. Keyboarder Sylvester Levay had a musical degree and was a professional musician as well. He would later write some highly successful musicals. He and the third man, drummer Christian von Hoffmann, were members of the same orchestra. Besides their professional duties, the three of them wanted to realize their dream and recorded this one LP in 1971, calling themselves Vita Nova and never having had any live gigs at all. It was an edition of only 500 copies, which is today traded at about 1,000 in mint condition. The new edition contains two bonus tracks which were then planned to form a single that wasn't, however, released. Just listening to the smashing "Whirl wind" makes the LP worth its money.

Recorded in 1973 at the Dierks Studios by Dieter Dierks and bandleader Jürgen Dollase. In 2022 the original analog masters were remastered. An elaborate work, which has led to a very good result.

Waterloo : First battle

Regarded as one of the best European progressive rock albums from the '70s, the sole release by Belgian group Waterloo was originally released on the Vogue label in 1970. Entirely sung in English, 'First Battle' is a blend of progressive rock, psychedelia and heavy prog with top guitar/organ, flute and obvious Jethro Tull influence but with something else really of their own, making of it a very special album. First officially reissued by us in 2017 and long out of print, Guerssen presents an improved reissue in hard cardboard sleeve + obi and insert with liner notes and photos.

Waters, Roger : The berlin wall rehearsals, vol. 2 (2lp)

A couple of months prior to 'The Wall - Live In Berlin,' Roger Waters, alongside his regular touring group, The Bleeding Heart Band, settled in to London's Townhouse Studios to rehearse for the event. Nothing unusual there, but not only were these rehearsals recorded, they were also broadcast on a couple of small German radio channels, presumably to promote the coming show. Previously, this remained a largely unknown recording outside of the fatherland, but is now released on this two-instalment set for the first time on vinyl.

White Willow's fifth studio album, 'Signal to Noise', was mixed and produced by Tommy Hansen (Helloween, TNT, Pagan's Mind, Circus Maximus). The line-up features singer Trude Eidtang (vocals), Lars Fredrik Froislie (keyboards, electronics), Jacob Holm-Lupo (guitars), Ketil Vestrum Einarsen (woodwinds), Marthe Berger Walthinsen (bass guitar) and Aage Moltke Schou (drums, percussion). The band took three weeks to record this instead of one year, but they have still managed to produce a multi-layered progressive rock album that twists and turns through many different styles yet still contains loads of mellotrons. Trude's voice has a good range, but there is an almost ethereal quality to it, a breathiness which adds to the overall feel of what is a very strong rock band with lots of ideas. This is good solid symphonic prog with loads of ideas. Originally released on CD in 2006, first time on vinyl. Limited to 400 copies on clear vinyl.

Zappa, Frank : Beat club october 1968

Frank Zappa and the 'We're Only In It For The Money' line-up of The Mothers Of Invention started their second European tour in the autumn of 1968 with a number of dates in Germany. Whilst in the country, they recorded a 35-minute session for the TV show 'Beat Club' on October 6th consisting of a partly improvised, all instrumental piece drawing mainly on themes that would appear on their 1969 album 'Uncle Meat.' It also includes snatches of The Five Tinos' 'Don't Do That' and Wagner's 'Lohengrin,' presumably played specially for their German audience. The Essen Music Festival had footed the bill for the group's ten thousand dollar air fare and this LP features a fifteen-minute version of 'King Kong' from that show. This is vintage Frank Zappa at his most creative and the sound quality is excellent.

Zeus B. Held : Attack time

Originally dating back to 1981, 'Attack Time' by sound tinkerer Zeus B. Held is one of the most exciting records of the original experimental Kraut-pop period. Nevertheless, the album was a commercial failure at the time. So it's all the nicer that it's now reissued, with all its supposed contradictions between enraptured new wave, cosmic electronics and weird rock grooves.

Zzebra : Zzebra

Established by members of the British brass-rock outfit If with the former Osibisa percussionist Loughty Amao, Zzebra was a forward-thinking hybrid mixing jazz, rock, and world music. Chief songwriter/saxophonist Dave Quincy keeps the arrangements complex and Loughty injects the African element, former Elastic Band keyboardist Gus Yeadon and guitarist John Terry adding layers of melodic inventiveness. Yielding a progressive jazz style that roped in funk, blues, and west African rhythms, this enthralling LP speaks to Zzebra's forceful reputation as a powerhouse live act of the British jazz fusion scene.
