'The Melting Butter Sessions' was originally an Ax Genrich 2019 self-released CD release that now finds its way through the vinyl thanks to Clostridium Records. The vinyl LP contains 4 (out of 5 on CD) long tracks, 2 on each side of the album. In case the name of Ax Genrich doesn't say nothing to you let's refresh your memory with a piece from Ax's profile in Discogs: Rock'n'roll guitarist who went all experimental after getting involved in the primordial Krautrock scene, briefly with Agitation Free, he was then borrowed by Guru Guru and stayed with them. Ax also had the super-group project Highdelberg, and then got involved in the folk and new-wave scenes before disappearing for over a decade. Limited to 222 copies on black vinyl.

Originally released in October 1967 by Philips Records, 'H.P. Lovecraft' is the debut album by the American psychedelic rock band H.P. Lovecraft. The album blended psychedelic and folk rock influences and was marked by the haunting, eerie ambiance of the band's music, which itself was often inspired by the literary works of horror writer H.P. Lovecraft, after whom the band had named themselves. This is possibly one of the best second-division psychedelic albums, that shows the immediately identifiable Edwards-Michaels vocal tandem at its best. With deft touches of folk, jazz and sultry horn arrangements the album was a cult behind his own generation.

Heckstall-Smith, Dick : A story ended

This is the first official re-release on vinyl under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management,UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG, originally released in 1972 on Bronze Records. Co-founder of Colosseum in 1968 with Jon Hiseman, he knew from his Jazz Club years as drummer for Georgie Fame, Dick ran through this group's hectic recording and touring schedule for over 3 years until November 1971, when it disbanded. In his late 30s at that time, on top of his musical shape, he moved on to start recording on his first solo project, with material left over from Colosseum days (written by D. H.-S., Clem Clempson and Jon Hisemann) and new material jointly composed with well known lyricist Pete Brown. He recruited the help of Colosseum mates, Hiseman, keyboardist Dave Greenslade and vocalist/bass player Mark Clarke, plus the brilliant ex-Elton John group Caleb Quaye (Hookfoot) on guitars and Rob Tait (ARC, Battered Ornaments) on drums; old pal G. Bond is featured providing remarkable moog work on 'Pirate's Dream', funky organ on 'Moses In The Bullrushourses' and sharing piano duties with Gordon Beck (G.B. Trio, Nucleus) on 'What The Morning Was After'; Paul Williams (Juicy Lucy) gets the lion share of vocal duties, and Chris Farlowe and Chris Spedding (Nucleus, Battered Ornaments) have respectively a sole vocal and a guitar spot on 'Pirate's Dream'. The album track by track: Side one starts with 'Future Song', the track that really rises above the other tracks here. The guitar, vocals (by Mark Carke) and sax are great on this one. Killer sax 2 minutes during an excellent instrumental interlude. H.-S. sounds slightly eastern-influenced on his outstanding sax lines. Such an uplifting track with it's repetitive riff and hard, driving sound! Next is 'Crabs', starting off in a mellow way with Greenslade's piano and reserved vocals as the sax joins in followed by guitar and drums as it builds. Irresistable! Great vocals by Paul Williams. Hunka Munka : Foreste interstellari

Keyboard player Roberto Carlotto from Varese, whose nickname was Hunka Munka, began playing since his childhood, though his musical career was seriously compromised by an aircraft accident that caused him some heavy injuries. His beginnings as a professional musician took him to play in England, Germany and Switzerland, where he even had the chance of supporting such artists like Rod Stewart and Colosseum. In Italy he had previously played with Big 66, I Cuccioli and later with Ivan Graziani (Anonima Sound 1970), before entering a solo career starting with a single in 1971. As a solo artist, Carlotto was easily recognized by his very good technical quality and the high level of his equipment, that included an incredible number of different keyboards and even the early examples of tape drum machines. His only solo album, 'Dedicato A Giovanna G.', with its outrageous cover, is a soft-prog album, obviously dominated by Hunka's keyboards (especially his self-customized Hammond organ) and odd tremolo voice resembling Demis Roussos or Bee Gees. Among the backing musicians were drummer Nunzio "Cucciolo" Favia from Osage Tribe and guitarist Ivan Graziani.After the album release Carlotto joined Dik Dik in 1973, again with drummer Cucciolo playing with him too later as Carlotto & Cucciolo. He has also presumably released an electronic album in 1984, 'Promise Of Love' (Atlantide AMX 12003), under the name Karl Otto. In 2011 Roberto Carlotto joined the reformed Analogy playing with them many concerts. In the early 2000s Roberto Carlotto started a collaboration with keyboardist Joey Mauro, talented user and repairer of vintage keyboards; together they revitalized the Hunka Munka name... and finally they released an inspired album called 'Foreste Interstellari' in which Carlotto writes lyrics, plays keyboards and sings lead. Joey Mauro plays keyboards as well and writes music together with Mr. Hunka Munka.

Ihre Kinder, formed in 1968, and were the pioneers among the politically and socially engaged groups in Germany. Their second album 'Leere Hände' was originally released on the legendary KUCKUCK label in 1970. The English version, called 'Empty Hands', has never been available on vinyl. There was a small number of white label copies pressed by Deutsche Grammophon in 1970/'71 to solicit releases by Polygram companies around the world, but as there was no interest, the label dropped the idea. So, now it is the first time ever, that the English version of 'Leere Hände' is being pressed on vinyl, with the original Kuckuck labels and tracklist, and the cover as intended for the English version. A great German progressive psychedelic effort, which sounds different -but equally great- in English, that should be part of every serious 70s progressive rock collection. Limited deluxe edition on 180-gram vinyl with a printed innersleeve.

The band presented this work by participating to the 2 days Prog + 1festival in Revislate (Venuno), which also included prestigious names such as Ozric Tentacles, Unitopia, Big Big Train, Pain Of Salvation, etc. 'Il Domenicano Bianco' is a concept album based on the novel 'Der Weisse Dominikaner' by the Austrian writer Gustav Meyrink. The intent that led to this work's creation was to complete the band's trilogy on this author, following two previous albums dedicated to his other works ('Der Golem' from2002 and 'Il Volto Verde' from 2013). Insect Trust : The insect trust (it)

Insect Trust were an American jazz-based rock band that formed in New York in 1967. The members of the band were Nancy Jeffries on vocals, Bill Barth on guitar, Luke Faust - formerly of the Holy Modal Rounders - on guitar, banjo, fiddle, and harmonica, Trevor Koehler on saxophone, and Robert Palmer (1945-1997) on clarinet and alto saxophone. Elvin Jones and Bernard Purdie both drummed with the group at times. Bill Folwell, who had played with Albert Ayler (and later an original member of The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo), on bass and trumpet; as well as Warren Gardner on trumpet and clarinet, were part of the band by the time they recorded their second album. The band probably took its name from William S. Burroughs's novel 'Naked Lunch.' The music ranges from surreal folk-rock (in the vein of such local heroes like Holy Modal Rounders and Fugs), to Booker T.-like pop-soul, to flat-out free jazz. Never intended to be a traditional pop act, the Insect Trust should be best remembered for extending rock's boundaries and taking the genre to a much hipper level without resorting to a lot of banal technique.

Last June, Crystal Jacqueline and her band performed at the Sonic Rock Solstice Festival and somebody very naughtily bootlegged it. The day after the gig, Icarus Peel, Jacqueline's guitarist and musical director, was perusing one on the many merchandise stalls when he noticed a homemade CD of the previous evening's performance. "How much for the CD?", he asked. "Ten quid", came the reply. "How much if you're in the band?", Peel enquired. Unsurprisingly, a considerable discount was offered, and the deal was done. Playing the disc on the long drive home, Jacqueline and Peel were impressed by what they heard and thought that with a bit of tidying up they'd have a rather splendid live album and persuaded Mega Dodo to bootleg the bootleggers. The vinyl edition will be available as an 'official bootleg' pressed on 180 gram white and black splatter vinyl in an edition of 250 copies.

Jan Dukes de Grey : Sorcerers

This incredibly rare release predates their more widely-known second album, 'Mice And Rats In The Loft.' This is superb psych-folk dated 1969. Jan Dukes De Grey started out as a duo of two multi-instrumentalists, Michael Bairstow and Derek Noy, who stood midway between Tyrannosaurus Rex and Jethro Tull with very short all-acoustic songs with strange lyrics. Similar to early Incredible String Band or Mark Fry, with a touch of Comus weirdness. A mixture of trippy and stoned songs and instrumentals with eastern feel. A unique album. One of the most brilliant acoustic experiments of folk-psych-prog rock ever.
