Dr. Strangely Strange : Radio sessions

Irish psychedelic folkies Dr. Strangely Strange were active from 1968-1971. Their two Joe Boyd-produced albums from that era, 'Kip Of The Serenes' (Island) and 'Heavy Petting' (Vertigo), are both highly sought after by collectors. In their heyday, the band recorded only two BBC radio sessions, a 'Top Gear' slot and an 'In Concert,' both with John Peel. Frustratingly, the BBC's tapes were wiped, but after extensive research with European collectors, TLAK has been able to locate off-air recordings of both sessions, which have been painstakingly restored. Added to these are brief radio sessions for Dutch and Danish radio sourced from the original recordings, as well as a Dublin rehearsal take of 'Sign On My Mind' featuring Gary Moore, a friend of the band and guest on 'Heavy Petting.' Limited gatefold vinyl pressing with 4-page illustrated booklet featuring previously unpublished photos compiled by Strangelies biographer Adrian Whittaker.

Edip Akbayram & Dostlar : Singles Overview 1974-1977

B-sides from hard-to-find 45s that never made it onto albums during singer Edip Akbayram's 1970s psychedelic period with the awesome Dostlar as backing band. Akbayram's voice glues together disparate arrangements that put ridiculous analog synthesizers up next to centuries-old mystic poetry; Anatolian melodies are enveloped by western touches like breakdowns for cosmic whispering, slammin' organ, or wild phasing effects on folk instruments that were never meant to support them.

Electric Orange : Unterwasser, vol. 2 (2lp)

This music was performed at the Manikin Records 10 year Anniversary Festival at the Toskana-Therme in Bad Sulza on Saturday the 6th of April 2002, late evening (11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.). Contrary to any other Electric Orange albums, this was only a 2 member electronic performance using analogue synthesizers, organ, guitar, vocoder, sequencer, tapes and sampler (no computers). The music they have played was based on some tracks from their 2001 release 'Abgelaufen!', some older and some new tunes, but one could only recognize some basics of these tracks, because all music happened spontaneously, was improvised. Recorded directly to stereo, a mix of an artificial head source and their mixer. Listen with headphones to experience the real atmosphere of the concert!

Electric Orange : Gap

Two years after their last album, Electric Orange present their next longplayer. On this album the band re-introduces their drummer Eric, known from the albums 'Abgelaufen' and 'Fleischwerk' some time ago. On 'Gap' Electric Orange show once again that they are an integral, pioneering part of theGerman neo-psychedelic and neo-krautrock scene. Pressed in Germany, the album is released in an edition of 300 copies on crystal clear/black marbled vinyl and is released on 180gr high quality vinyl. On these six long tracks, recorded during 2013-2017, Electric Orange presents its interpretation of modern, electronically-driven krautrock. This vinyl version of 'EOXXV' comprises three LP's in heavy duty sleeves, packaged in a deluxe slipcase box in leather optics. As usually, the album was mastered by krautrock legend Eroc. The included download code offers an additional bonus track. This edition is limited to 411 sets, with the LP's pressed on 180-gram black/orange vinyl.

Emerson, Keith : Murderock o.s.t.

'Murderock - Uccide A Passi Di Danza' (internationally released as 'Murder Rock') is a thriller/horror 1984 film directed by legendary Lucio Fulci about a dance school in which a mysterious murderer kills female students with a long pin. Its soundtrack was entrusted by the producers to Keith Emerson, a virtuoso keyboardist and composer. 'Murderock' has become a cult title among genre film fans over the years, and is here reissued for Black Friday 2023 on clear blue vinyl with gatefold sleeve and all audio remastered. Includes four previously unreleased tracks.

Reissued on vinyl, this is the sophomore full-length (originally dating back to 1978) by the psychedelic Turkish artist Ersen, who had a background in Mogollar and 3 Hür-El, and lead his own band Dadaslar. This LP contains many B-sides, featuring wicked funk drums, fuzz guitars, cool organs and the charismatic voice of Ersen. The killer psych-funk track 'Zalim' has become famous due to the Gaslamp Killer's edit. This reissue comes with remastered sound, reproduced artwork and liner notes.

Falsini, Franco : Cold Nose

Franco Falsini is an Italian musician and producer perhaps best known for his work with his space/prog-rock group Sensations' Fix, who released seminal albums in the 1970s. His music was primarily crafted with impressive guitar technique (proven to be way ahead of his time), various synthesizers, and unorthodox recording methods to churn out beautiful experimental psychedelic sounds. Cold Nose was his debut solo outing, originally released on Polydor in 1975 as a soundtrack to a film that has never been widely released and has only been seen by very few people.

Flower Travellin' Band : Made in japan (it)

'Made In Japan' is the third album by Japanese rock band Flower Travellin' Band, released in 1972. After meeting Lighthouse at the Expo '70 festival in Osaka, Flower Travellin' Band were invited to visit Canada. While there, the group recorded 'Made In Japan' with Lighthouse keyboardist Paul Hoffert helping produce. Due to George Wada becoming ill with tuberculosis, Canadian drummer Paul DeLong plays on some tracks on this album. The lyrics were written by Yoko Nomura, the wife of the band's manager, who translated conversations she had with the group and their ideas into English. 'Heaven And Hell' was written by Yamanaka in Japanese and she translated it. The song 'Hiroshima' is a re-imagining of 'Satori Part III' from their previous album 'Satori.' The introductory first track is an advertisement for a concert at Stanley Park Stadium by Flower Travellin' Band, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Bob Seger and Teegarden & Van Winkle, with a clip of 'Lucky Man' playing in the background.

Here's an amazing release presenting re-recordings of music that was written in '74-'75, but that didn't make it past the demo stage back in the day. Flute & Voice is a German duo comprised of Hans Reffert ('Flute') and Hans Brandeis ('Voice'). They released a classic psych/kraut-folk LP on the Pilz label in 1970, which also is available as a reissue from Wah Wah Records. Though re-recorded in the '90s, the music on this 'Drachenlieder' has the feel of the duo's '70s recordings. Fans of Magic Carpet, King Crimson's 'In The Court Of The Crimson King', Third Ear Band, Kalacakra, Oriental Sunshine, Bobby Callender, Clem Alford, Kali Bahlu, or the "sitar side" of Popol Vuh will enjoy this one big time! This is a limited edition of 500 copies, presented in a gatefold sleeve with artwork from Hans Reffert himself.

Originally released in 1971, the Fuchsia album is one of the best examples of British progressive and psychedelic folk-rock, full on inventive arrangements and songwriting. Here's a long overdue vinyl reissue. Fuchsia was formed by a group of Exeter University students. They were Tony Durant (previously of psych band Louise) on acoustic/electric guitars and vocals; Michael Day on bass and Michael Gregory on drums plus the three-piece classical ensemble of Vanessa Hall-Smith (violin, backing vocals); Janet Rogers (violin, backing vocals) and Madeleine Bland (cello, piano, harmonium, backing vocals). Signed to Pegasus Records (the "progressive" branch of B&C Records), Fuchsia recorded their self-titled album at Sound Techniques studio with producer David Hitchcock (Caravan, Mellow Candle, Genesis, Camel...) The main inspiration for the album was Tony Durant's readings of Mervyn Peake's gothic novels such as 'Titus Groan' and its fictional character Lady Fuchsia Groan.Like some of their contemporaries (Comus, Mellow Candle...) Fuchsia only started gaining recognition in the following decades, thanks to fans of obscure psychedelic folk. Today, Tony Durant leads a new version of Fuchsia, still playing and recording. Logos is the debut album of G.C. Neri from Genoa; it was composed as a concept album and portrays the spiritual travel of the artist who also played all the instruments but the drums performed by Roberto Margliano. It's a fascinating spiritual travel planned by G.C. Neri, an artist who has always believed that music is the last voice from the divine, a message capable to gift some relief to our poor souls which sublimates itself as a sort of sonic prayer. Logos is also a tribute to the roots which moulded the artistic shaping of G.C. Neri, to those artists that helped him to become what he is now, from Led Zeppelin's hard blues to the romanticism of Genesis, from the symphonic attitude of ELP and Yes to the nervy rhythms of King Crimson, from the melodies of Le Orme , PFM and Osanna to the psychedelic tunes of Gong. At last Logos wants to be a path through tradition, the will to feel and create music according to the aesthetic and the sounds of the Seventies.

'KING BISCUIT FLOWER HOUR LIVE FM RADIO BROADCAST: HAMMERSMITH ODEON, LONDON - JUNE 10TH 1976'- Genesis in it's newest incarnation for the first time on home turf, live in London. When lead singer Peter Gabriel left the group to start his solo career, the other members feared they couldn't move forward, but they found their new front-man in drummer Phil Collins. This show from 'The Trick Of A Tail' tour is their first live recording together, which proved to be a winning combo for the British band. Collins didn't fully trade in his drumsticks for the microphone, he continued to drum during instrumental sections. This is a solid set from a group fresh into a whole different chapter of their careers; the new Genesis. Comes on yellow vinyl.

'The Melting Butter Sessions' was originally an Ax Genrich 2019 self-released CD release that now finds its way through the vinyl thanks to Clostridium Records. The vinyl LP contains 4 (out of 5 on CD) long tracks, 2 on each side of the album. In case the name of Ax Genrich doesn't say nothing to you let's refresh your memory with a piece from Ax's profile in Discogs: Rock'n'roll guitarist who went all experimental after getting involved in the primordial Krautrock scene, briefly with Agitation Free, he was then borrowed by Guru Guru and stayed with them. Ax also had the super-group project Highdelberg, and then got involved in the folk and new-wave scenes before disappearing for over a decade. Limited to 222 copies on black vinyl.
