Re-release, originally released in 1972. Remastered from the original mastertapes. The seven-piece band formed in 1967 as a beat group called Ambition Of Music. In 1970, working with a local trombone choir led to a dramatic change of direction. Trombone, clarinet, saxophone, scat-like vocals, various percussion, even a bicycle pump or a guitar played below the bridge found their way into the band. Annexus Quam mixed two musical genres: rock and free jazz, but the group played both differently from what could be heard otherwise at that time. Elements of psychedelic rock with heavy organ sounds were combined with freely dabbed brass notes; at the same time the band was closer to Stockhausen's concept of "Intuitive Music" than to the expressive group improvisations of free jazz musicians.

Astral Magic : Lords of space

Astral Magic is a psychedelic music project by Santtu Laakso from Finland. He used to play bass and Moog in space rock band Dark Sun (started in 1991) and is also known as DJ Astro. If you went to Roadburn in between 2007 and 2014 you have probably heard him play some mind-blowing sounds there with the legendary Kozmik Ken (R.I.P.). 'Lords Of Space' is certainly a heavy, psychedelic space rock album following in the footsteps of 'Visions Of Infinity,' that was released on LP and CD on Space Rock Productions in 2021. This time in addition tovocals, bass and plenty of synths Santtu played most of the guitars by himself. Guest guitarists include doom metal legend Kimi Kärki (ex-Revered Bizarre, Lord Vicar, E-musikgruppe Lux Ohr etc.), UK space rocker Vince Cory (ex-Psychedelic Warlords, Sonic Trip Project etc.) and US multi-instrumentalist Jay Tausig (ex-Chrome etc.), who plays drums on all the tracks as well. The CD version also includes the single 'Child Of TheWild'/'The Undead' where the guitars are delivered by Finnish metal/hard rock guitarist Mikael Haavisto (ex-Ranger, Chalise). The album was mastered by Scott "Dr. Space" Heller and the cover art is done by Dale Simpson. Astral Magic was started in March 2020 to make all kinds of psychedelic, trippy music. As a long-time music collector and writer (Psychotropic Zone, Aural Innovations, Bad Acid, Astral Zone etc.) Santtu has lotsof musician friends all over the world and he has invited many of them to take part in the Astral Magic recordings. He has been very productive and around 300 tracks have been created so far. For fans of Hawkwind, Hawklords, Nik Turner, Robert Calvert, Chrome, Helios Creed, Monster Magnet, Farflung, Ecstatic Vision. Limited to 200 hand-numbered copies on black vinyl including poster, sticker and download code.

Astral Magic : Am i dreaming?

'Am I Dreaming?' is the 2023 album by the very prolific Finnish psych/space/kraut project Astral Magic that has been channelling psychedelic and spacey music from other dimensions since March 2020. This time the inspiration came from late '60s/early '70s psych/garage/prog rock (think early Floyd, Stones, The Beatles, 13th Floor Elevators, The Byrds, The Who, The Zombies, Hawkwind etc.). As usual, Santtu Laakso (ex-Dark Sun) got help from international cast of psych rock veterans like for example Dr. Koch from Vibravoid who also made the cover design! This very cool sounding album was recorded 2020-2021 in Finland, Germany, UK and USA. The high quality 140g LP's were pressed at the new plant Helsingin Levypuristamo, the first one in Finland for almost 30 years. Limited to 200 copies on black vinyl. Originally published in 1979, the sole album from Swedish band Atlas is combining playfulness with intricate, mellow melodies while infusing heavy organs, carefully refined guitar riffs and fantastic synthesized soundscapes. This album is indispensable when looking at the progressive instrumental music history and not to be overlooked!

Bachdenkel : Lemmings (2lp)

Bachdenkel was an English rock band that started under the name The U (Don't) No Who in 1968. The three piece consisted of band leader Colin Swinburne on vocals/guitars/keyboards, Peter Kimberley on bass/piano/vocals and Brian Smith on drums, with Karel Beer as an additional musician, engineer and producer. The group relocated to France to live, perform and record. Their first effort - 'Lemmings' - was released on Philips France in 1973, showing their excellent musicianship and songwriting. Conceived as a three sided album it was recorded during the summer of 1970. This double version includes 3 missing tracks originally conceived for the Initial Recording Company EP, a small label ran by Karel Beer. The album has an evident late sixties British psych-rock flavor, but comes with occasional harder moments and longer, more developed compositions in a proto progrock manner.

Il Ballo Delle Castagne is an Italian band that was formed in2007 by two musicians coming from different backgrounds:vocalist and lyricist Vinz, previously brainchild of a "low-fiproject" called Calle Della Morte and Marco Garegnani,previously with a band called The Green Man. The line up wascompleted by Diego Banchero (Malombra, Recondita Stirpe andEgida Aurea) on bass and Jo Jo on drums. The name of the bandmeans 'The Chestnut's Ball' and it was inspired by a legendinvolving Pope Alexander VI (1431-1503) and his luxurioushabits: the Chestnut's Ball was a kind of "Satanic Sabbath", where naked women used to dance in the light of candelabrumspicking chestnuts from the floor with their mouths. The musicof Il Ballo Delle Castagne is an interesting blend of hardrock, progressive and new wave. Their sound is gothic and darkand it could remind of bands like Antonius Rex or Il BigliettoPer l'Inferno. Il Ballo Delle Castagne were formed in 2007 byfour musicians coming from different backgrounds. The music ofthis band is an interesting blend of psychedelia, hard rock, progressive and new wave. Their eponymous debut album wasreleased in 2009 and in the same year they released a 10" vinylsingle featuring two covers, Biglietto per l'Inferno'sAnsia/Confessione and Franco Battiato's Paranoia. TheKalachakra album was released in 2011 on the independent labelHau Ruck S.P.Q.R. and distributed by Black Widow Records. It'sa concept album inspired by 'Wheel Of Time', a documentary filmabout Tibet by Werner Herzog, 'Kalachakra'. The album isdedicated to the Dalai Lama and to the struggles for theliberation of Tibet. Their new album is released on BloodRock Records and distribuited again by Black Widow and its called'Surpassing All Other Kings'. Formed in Berlin, way back in 1968, this long-running German progressive hard rock band releases its first live album in about 45 years time. These six tracks (spanning 41 minutes) were recorded in front of 80 fans in December 2023 at the Tresohr Studios in Oberhausen, Germany.

Known as 'Del Volar De Las Palomas' ('The Flight Of The Doves'), this is the second eponymous album from Chile's legendary psychedelic folk-rock outfit Los Blops. Originally released in 1971, while the band lived in a communal house known as 'Manchufela', it's another superb psychedelic folk-rock offering with a slightly more electrified sound on some of the tracks. Expect great songs, melancholic atmospheres, deep vocals (in Spanish), acoustic and electric guitars, flute, organ, percussion, drums, cello, violin, backward effects and more. The colour insert features photos and liner notes in English/Spanish and the record is housed in an old style heavy cardboard tip-on sleeve.

Bokaj Retsiem : Psychedelic underground

Credited as one of the best late '60s German psych-rock albums, Bokaj Retsiem's ('Meister Jakob' in reverse) 'Psychedelic Underground' is an eccentric, soulful, acid and fuzzy rockin' essay that clearly prefigures a part of the krautrock movement. Featuring Rainer Deigner, former guitarist for the '60s German beat group German Bonds, as the only credited musician and composer on this album (although other musicians assisted him on bass, keyboards, and that B3 Hammond and Leslie sound), this is basically Rainer's freaked-out tribute to his favourite children's song, 'Meister Jakob,' consisting in trippy instrumental sections, furiously savage E-guitar crescendos, amazing psych-rock improvisation, with just a hint of '60s US psych-garage. A real enthusiastic psych-kraut trip for fans of Vanilla Fudge, Hendrix and Iron Butterfly. Comes on 180 gram cyan blue vinyl.
