Abacus : Highland warrior

Abacus (the name is based on the Greek/Roman board game Abakus) is one of the legendary krautrock bands, formed in 1971. During the 1970s Abacus released four albums, the last three of which were recorded in Giorgio Moroder's "Musicland" in Munich. After a brief split-up in 1976 the members reunited in 1979 under the name of the British Abacus forefathers Grail. Their four albums have been re-released and exactly on the 50th anniversary of the band, Abacus release their album 'Highland Warrior'. It is a concept album about Robert I, the first King of Scotland.

Agitation Free : Live '74: at the cliffs of river rhine

German experimental rockers Agitation Free were part of the Berlin experimental rock movement in the '70s along with Tangerine Dream and Ash Ra Temple. 'Live '74: At The Cliffs Of River Rhine' captures the band in their pomp. This reissue contains a bonus track - 'Big Fuzz' which was recorded two years earlier in Moers.

Agitation Free : Momentum

Agitation Free was one of the leading representatives of German experimental rock music in the early 1970's. From the end of 1967, the Berlin band developed long, unusually free instrumental improvisations for that time. It achieved cult status in the early '70s with its unique mix of improvised rock with elements of electro, ethno, jazz and trance elements. Although a number of albums, recorded from 1972 to 1974, were released after the group's dissolution, it took almost 35 years for the original band to reunite and now they present their studio album 'Momentum,' their first album since 'River Of Return' from 1999.

Agitation Free : Last fragments, live '74 (+dvd)

Agitation Free was formed in 1967 through the merger of two Berlin rock groups. In retrospect, it became clear that the experimental circle Agitation Free was one of the most important bands of the "Berlin School" and also igniting careers for some German musicians. Christopher Franke helped the band Tangerine Dream to worldwide recognition. Michael Hoenig worked with Klaus Schulze and Tangerine Dream before he became known as a film composer. Axel Genrich switched to Guru Guru, Burghard Rausch became a founding member of Bel Ami. Gustl Lütjens toured with Shirley Bassey and Nena and later founded the band Living Mirrors. Lutz "Lüül" Ulbrich joined Ashra, and worked with ex-Velvet Underground singer Nico. This live CD comes with bonus DVD.

Albert, Nash : Yet

The Georgian singer/songwriter and rock poet Nash Albert was the frontman of the successful Soviet alternative/indie band Blast (Blast Unit Moscow), followed by Salamandra, which broke up in 1994. In 2019, his old bandmates from Salamandra started composing and arranging song material for a solo album by Nash Albert. Nash's co-author Ric Berie also joined the team, as did British producer Tim Palmer, who also produced Robert Plant, Tears For Fears, Bowie's Tin Machine, Texas and Tarja Turunen. This is how 'Yet' became the result.

Anderson, Miller -band- : Live at rockpalast 2010 (+dvd)

Miller Anderson has played on the biggest stages in the world with some of the biggest acts. At Woodstock, he excelled as a singer and guitarist in the Keef Hartley Band, which performed right before Santana. His concise style makes Miller Anderson one of the great guitarists of blues rock. Above all, the accomplished slide work and the powerful, never gimmicky use of wah-wah solos have cemented the reputation of the Woodstock veteran and Jimi Hendrix admirer as an outstanding string virtuoso. Over the next few years, Miller-Anderson played with Keef Hartley, Savoy Brown, Mountain, The Dukes, T Rex and The Donovan Band, and he had been a member of the Spencer Davis Group for fifteen years. The Rockpalast performance, recorded with new drummer Tommy Fischer, was the culmination of everything Miller had worked on and is representative of the Miller Anderson Band and the many faces and sounds of the master himself.

Dickey Betts, founding member of the Allman Brothers Band, and his band Great Southern sparkled with joy and fired his songs and solos off the cuff into millions of European homes during the 1978 Rockpalast performance. This 3CD plus 2DVD set also includes the 2008 performance.

As spectators were not allowed to visit concerts, the WDR Rockpalast organizers came with its series "Offstage". Bröselmaschine was one of the bands to perform on this program and they played almost exclusively songs from their last studio album 'Elegy' from 2019 as well as the title track of the predecessor 'Indian Camel', closing with the Marc Bolan cover of 'Children Of The Revolution'.

Canned Heat : Live at rockpalast 1998 (+dvd)

The story of Canned Heat is one of triumphant perseverance, for despite their successes and disasters, the band has maintained their musical integrity and commitment to the blues, and is admired and active to this day. When the band performed at Rockpalast in 1998, Fito de la Parra and Larry Taylor, who previously played bass and now plays guitar, were joined by vocalist and slide guitarist Robert Lucas and bassist Greg Kage. During their performance, the band performs many of their most popular songs, including 'On The Road Again', in which de la Parra attempts to recreate Wilson's extraordinary, haunted vocals while the band performs some of the hit record's mesmerizing magic. As the performance at the Rockpalast in 1998 proved and every performance since has underscored, Canned Heat were never purely a nostalgic band. In fact, they have always been a blues band of irresistible power that has been delighting audiences for over fifty eventful years.

Clark, Anne : Live at rockpalast 1998 (+dvd)

Anne Clark is a British poet, singer, songwriter and grand dame of dark wave, born in the London district of Croyden. She grew up in the UK post-punk era and the European new wave/dark wave movement. Musically, almost all of Anne Clarke's works can be classified in the field of electronic music with partly avant-garde classical, folk, rock and dance elements. In 1998, Anne Clark performed with her band at the Rockpalast Easter Rock Night in the Biscuit Hall in Bonn. This concert is now available on a CD plus DVD set.

Coyne, Kevin : Underground

The last work by Kevin Coyne, recorded between April and October 2004 in Nuremberg. Unfortunately, Coyne died in December 2004 and this became a posthumous release. He was accompanied during the recording by Andreas Blüml and Michael Lipton (acoustic and electric guitar), Harry Hirschmann (bass) and Werner Steinhauser on drums, who was significantly involved in the production. Coyne, Kevin -& Brendan Croker- : Life is almost wonderful (+dvd)

Though 'post-recorded', when Croker sent his guitar tracks and Kevin improvised the lyrics on top, the album is an amazing symbiosis, as if the two were on exactly the same wavelength. The album comes with a bonus DVD with insights into their 2002 mini tour in Leffinge, Belgium, and Hardenberg, Netherlands, which have never been available on DVD before.

Deville, Willy -& The Mink Deville Band- : Venus of the docks - live in bremen

In 1974 Willy DeVille founded Mink DeVille in San Francisco. The band moved to New York and became the house band of the legendary CBGB club. The band had their international breakthrough in 1977 with the hit 'Spanish Stroll'. Several albums followed, the critics cheered, but unfortunately the broad success did not materialize. The band Mink DeVille broke up, Willy DeVille moved to New Orleans and started his solo career. In 2007/2008, Willy DeVille recorded his last studio album, 'Pistola', and toured again with the Mink DeVille Band to promote the album. On February 27, 2008 they performed at Bremen's Pier 2, while Radio Bremen was there to record the concert. It appeared to be Willy's last tour, as he had been diagnosed with cancer soon after. Willy DeVille died on August 6, 2009, a few days before his 59th birthday.

Duren, Wolfgang : Eyeless dreams

Wolfgang Düren played guitar in various local bands in the 1970's, but soon became more and more interested in electronic music. From 1978 he was a roadie for Tangerine Dream for three years, traveling the world with them and programming their sequencers. In the 1980's he worked for the Hamburg musician and inventor Wolfgang Palm and his company PPG (Palm Products Germany), which is primarily responsible for the development of the revolutionary digitally controlled PPG-Wave. In 1988 Wolfgang Düren became self-employed and founded the company Waldorf Electronics, with which he continued to use wavetable synthesis after the closure of PPG in 1987. Hiphop artist Eminem used samples from Wolfgang Düren's track 'Eyeless Dreams I' for his song 'Evil Twin' from the 'The Marshall Mathers LP 2' album from 2013.

Box set by Austrian prog rock legend Eela Craig with their four studio albums from 1976 to 1980. Remastered and sonically prepared, with detailed booklet, including the Christmas hit 'A Spaceman Came Travelling' from the 'Hats Of Glass' album.CD 1 contains the 'One Niter' album from 1976, CD 2 contains the 'Hats Of Glass' album from 1978 and the 'Virgin Oiland' album from 1980, and CD 3 contains the 'Missa Universalis' album from 1978.

Eloy : Ra

'RA' was the beginning of a new era for Germany's most successful art and progressive rock band Eloy. The formation before had completely separated. Band founder Frank Bornemann, as a singer, guitarist, songwriter and at the same time the band's producer, was still brimming with ideas with which he wanted to continue on the hitherto successful path. In keyboard player Michael Gerlach he finally found a like-minded partner. With 'RA' Eloy turned to a topic that, from today's perspective, has to be viewed as almost prophetic in view of the fatal developments on the planet and in society. The scenario on the album, which is ultimately defined and reflected in the core content of 'RA', still exceeds some of the boundaries of today's events, but that doesn't make it any less exciting, and the music is definitely absolutely unique.

Epitaph : History box 2 - the polydor years (2cd)

The story of Epitaph begins in the winter of 1969/70 in Dortmund club "Fantasio", where British musician Cliff Jackson (vocals, guitar), James McGillivray (drums) and bassist Bernd Kolbe practiced and worked on their program, whilst performing weekly at Fantasio amongst the likes of Black Sabbath, Rory Gallagher, Yes and Argent. Producer Günter Boas saw the potential of this band and it didn't take long for Epitaph to sign their first contract with Polydor, and recorded their self-titled album which was released in autumn 1971. This was followed by 'Stop Look And Listen' in April 1972.

Hartford, John : Steamboat whistle blues - live in bremen

When the Byrds recorded the album 'Sweetheart Of The Rodeo', John Hartford's influence as a guitarist and banjo player on this production is considered enormous. The album is considered a milestone in rock history, and it was the birth of a new genre, country rock or now also called Americana. In February 1977 John Hartford visited Bremen on one of his rare tours through Europe. Radio Bremen recorded the concert. An entertaining, exciting and varied session. Hartford takes the listeners on an acoustic journey through the diverse and traditional American music history.

Jackson, Joe : Live at rockpalast (2cd+2dvd)

The appearance at the Grugahalle Essen in April 1983 concluded Joe Jackson's most successful period. The Grugahalle concert for Rockpalast had been recorded in full and is now completely remixed, available together with two other concerts in an elaborate box set with 2 DVDs and 2 CDs in a jewelcase box.

Kin Ping Meh : No. 2 & 3 (2cd)

The Chinese are known for their flowery and descriptive language. Kin Ping Meh means "plum blossom branch in a golden vase", and the band borrowed its name from a novel of manners from the Ming Dynasty (16th century), which is known for its erotic and pornographic passages. The progressive krautrockers from Mannheim were founded in 1969. The five musicians were discovered by the record company Polydor at a competition organized by 'Bild Am Sonntag' (biggest German weekly newsletter) on Hamburg"s Reeperbahn, and after two single releases, their first album followed in 1971. The sales figures spoke for themselves, the band toured diligently, but Kin Ping Meh's line-up soon changed, with singer Geff Harisson (formerly Twenty Sixty Six And Then) joining the band from album '3' onwards. From then on, his raspy voice, reminiscent of Rod Stewart, had a decisive influence on the band's musical image. Between 1971 and 1977, Kin Ping Meh released six long-playing records. Two of these, 'No. 2' from 1972 and '3' from 1973 are now re-released in a revised and remastered version.

Kothe, Ralf : Guitar-ballads i & ii (2cd)

Ralf Kothe from East Berlin is an in-demand studio musician and composer and arranger of numerous film scores and advertising trailers. In 1987 Ralf Kothe released his first instrumental album 'Regendurst (Guitar Ballads I)' on the East German label Amiga, shortly before the fall of the Wall in 1989 his second production 'The Other Side (Guitar Ballads II)' followed. The two guitar ballads will be available again as a CD in a double pack with bonus material and detailed liner notes on Ralf Kothe's artistic life.

Liliental : Liliental

Liliental was formed during Dieter Moebius' creative hiatus from the Krautrock band Cluster. Moebius was supported by Kraan members Helmut Hattler (electric bass), Johannes Pappert (alto saxophone), Okko Becker (keyboards, vocals, guitar, percussion) and Asmus Tietchens (Moog, grand piano). Conny Plank, who also played on several Cluster albums, completed the quartet on guitar, keyboards and vocals. Originally released in 1978 on the Brain label, the band's only work combined "ambient" synth elements with rock, jazz and "exotic" experiments.

Man : Kingdom of noise

Re-release, comes in a digipak with a 12-page booklet. After 'Diamonds And Coal' from 2006, 'Kingdom Of Noise' was the second album by the Welsh psychedelic prog rockers Man without the involvement of an original founding member. Ray Williams and Jeff Jones left the band in 1970 and while the band carried on for some time, they disbanded in 1977. Six years later they reformed, and after the release of many live albums, brand new studio albums saw daylight.

Man : Reanimated memories

'Reanimated Memories' is the 16th album by Welsh rock legends Man. Man veteran Martin Ace (vocals, bass), his son Josh Ace (vocals, guitar), James Beck (vocals, guitar), Phil Ryan (vocals, piano) and Rene Robrahn (drums) recorded the album at Cowshed Studios in London. Featuring pedal steel guitarist B. J. Cole, who provides the band-typical country and West Coast rock sound. 'Reanimated memories' is Man's first studio album after five years of absence, a perfect addition to the band's previous catalog.

Martyn, John -band- : The smiling stranger in bremen

John Martyn was an exceptional guitarist and accomplished singer/songwriter. In his music he combined different styles into a new whole, he was an electrifying guitarist and singer whose music blurred the boundaries between folk, jazz, rock and blues. John Martyn started his career, signing with Island Records in 1973 and charting with his album 'Solid Air', but in 1977 came his breakthrough with 'One World', featuring Steve Winwood and Jamaicans Rico and Lee Perry. This CD has a concert that John Martyn did together with his band featuring Jeff Allen (Snowy White, Van Morrison) on drums and Alan Thomsen (Robert Palmer, Chris Rea, Eric Clapton) on bass, recorded in June 1983 in the venerable Bremen Schauburg.

Matthews Baartmans Conspiracy : Distant chatter

In March 2020, shortly before the first worldwide lockdown, Matthews Southern Comfort released their album 'The New Mine', which met critical acclaim, but the band had to cancel their promotional tour. At this point, frontman Iain Matthews and Dutch singer/songwriter B.J. Baartmans sat down together and wrote some songs. This is how Matthews Baartmans Conspiracy was formed, and led to the album 'Distant Chatter', filled with roots-like Americana song material.

Tony McPhee wrote British blues rock history with the Groundhogs from the 1960s onwards. Along with Neil Young, he is one of the forefathers of grunge. When Tony McPhee was not touring with the Groundhogs or recording records, he traveled with his Tony McPhee's Blues Band. 'Split II - Live In Bremen' from 1982, the first official long player of this trio is now available.

My Solid Ground : My solid ground

My Solid Ground were a German progressive rock band active in the 1970s. This obscure krautrock album from 1971 has long been considered a classic of the genre. The first track, the 13-minute 'Dirty Yellow Mist,' certainly lives up to its reputation as the group embark on a dark space rock journey.It sounds like a mixture of psychedelic rock and progressive rock with lots of long keyboard tones, a crunchy guitar riff, some acid guitar sounds and distorted chanting as well as some wordless vocals in higher pitches. 'That's You' has enough energy to pass for proto-punk, and the chorus of "Do you wanna die" doesn't detract from this impression. The song 'The Executioner' is a dark piece that alternates between echoing vocals and intense guitar solos. The songs on the album are characterized by catchy melodies, experimental sounds and lyrical lyrics. If you are a fan of progressive rock or enjoy discovering new music, My Solid Ground could be an interesting choice for you.

Neuronium : Signature

The Belgian Michel Huygen began his long musical career in 1976 with Neuronium, initially starting as a trio. But by 1982, after working with Vangelis on the joint album 'In London', Michel Huygen became synonymous with Neuronium. In 40 years, Huygen released Neuronium albums almost every year until this day. 'Signature' is not just a "best of"; the pieces selected for this compilation are a collection of expressions of different moods. From ultra-electronic, cosmic, spacey, dreamy to even neo-classical music composed in collaboration with the London Symphony Orchestra.

It was 1981 when Belgian electronic musician Michel Huygen and his Spanish colleague Carlos Guirao, better known as Neuronium, met Vangelis in London to record a session together. After some unofficial releases, 'In London' is finally being released in its entirety for the first time. This 'Platinum Edition' comes fully remastered.

Nitzinger : Live at rockpalast 2001 (+dvd)

With the Barons, the Texas guitarist John Nitzinger released a couple of singles for a smaller label in his hometown of Fort Worth in the mid-1960's. From 1968 Nitzinger went solo for the first time, with the then still quite young T-Bone Burnett as producer. In the 1980's Nitzinger founded the band PM with the drummer Carl Palmer from Emerson, Lake and Palmer and he also played guitar on Alice Cooper's 'Zipper Catches Skin' album. This CD plus DVD set captures the 2001 performance at Rockpalast after John had taken a long break from music.
