The Koko Mojo Records 'Songwriter Series' continues with Leroy Edward Kirkland. Kirkland aka Claude Cloud was primarily a jazz and rhythm & blues guitarist, who also worked behind the scenes as composer, conductor, session leader, and arranger. He is largely unknown to the general public and media-wise he is mainly confined to the annals of musical history, and his importance is not overtly acknowledged. The album is also programmed year by year to illustrate the changing direction of the music from 1952 through to 1962 with twenty-one songs being from the 1950's, and with Kirkland often as arranger and orchestra leader. Featuring Sonny Terry, Dinah Washington, Alan Freed Band, Bobby Brookes, Brook Benton, The Strollers, The Five Keys and many others.
