'Waves Of Seeing' is the first release from ZAM, the high octane guitar-bass-drums trio of Anthony Pirog (The Messthetics), Andrew Colwell, and Dan Sharnoff. The trio has been playing music together since they first met in public school in Vienna, Virgina 25 years ago. Rooted in structured improvisation and stretching the boundaries of genre ZAM plays 'hard ambient music' navigating through noise, rock, ambient, new age, glitch, drone, hardcore, sludge, psychedelic, electronica and free music. 'Waves Of Seeing' sees the trio connect with several genres with a cinematic sensibility; swirling with electromagnetic aberrations, sometimes in gruelling opposition and sometimes in delicate, meditative sympathy.

Zangeneh, Pari : (black) the series of music for young adults

'IRANIAN FOLK SONGS' - Travel back in time to the modern pre-revolution Teheran and dig this wonderful, ear-catching album from 1976 by Iranian female singer Pari Zangeneh. Traditional Persian folk songs with a lovely, sweet psychedelic flavor with the use of beautiful strings, flutes, charming and tasty drumming, some organ and orchestration, percussions... imagine a Persian version of Mellow Candle or Vashti Bunyan and you're there! Born in 1939 in Kermanshah (Iran), Pari Zangeneh is a soprano singer that lost her sight after a car accident in 1972. Her work over the years on restoring traditional Persian music and regional folk songs is invaluable. In 1976 she recorded this very unique album commissioned by Kanoon (Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults), a social organization that produced many kinds of materials (books, films, records) for children in Iran. The arrangements were done by Varoujan (famous for his work with Googoosh, Dariush, etc...). Sourced from the original masters. Comes in hard cardboard sleeve with obi and includes download card.

Here is a selection of their greatest hits from the six-album discography compiled for the first time on vinyl for the 20th anniversary of the band.

Zazou / Bikaye / Cy1 : Noir et blanc

A reissue of one of the biggest cult albums in the history of Crammed Discs. This record is constantly being (re)discovered by generations of fans, musicians and DJ's, who hail it as an unsurpassed Afro/electronic milestone. The album, recorded in 1983, resulted from a studio encounter between experimental electronic music composers CY1, Congolese musician/vocalist Bony Bikaye, and French composer Hector Zazou. "Fela Kuti-meets-Kraftwerk-on-the-dancefloor" is how International Musician magazine described this work back in '86.

Ze:A : The swimming city

Since 2008 Zea is the solo project of Arnold de Boer (who is also singer and guitarist in Dutch band The Ex, since 2009). Before 2008 Zea was a duo and earlier a five piece band, but the songs were always written, arranged, recorded and produced by De Boer. 'The Swimming City' is Zea's fifth album, and the first one featuring guest artists. Immediately in the first song 'Sub Specie Ludens' Mats Gustafsson appears on baritone sax and 'People Shrink, People Grow' features Oscar Jan Hoogland on piano, who returns in 'All Words Have Been Here First', the song that also features the characteristic and recognisable clarinet playing of Xavier Charles who De Boer made a 7" single with in 2012 called 'Bourgeois Blues' (Makkum Records, MR 5). Zea has toured all over the world and played in thirty five different countries including Ethiopia and Ghana. In Ghana Zea set up a studio with local musicians where two of the songs on 'The Swimming City' were recorded: 'Dark Minded Me' and 'Ik Kin Der Net By'. This last song is sung in Frysian, De Boer's first language, who grew up in a small town called Makkum, in Fryslan in the northern part of The Netherlands. On this album Zea's songs sound more open and versatile. Zea music is direct music; fat-free and no words wasted. Some songs are about consciousness and some songs are about simple things; Zea can take a subject out of the world of encyclopedia and move it into the musical mind. They are the frescos of he twenty first century, unfolding before your ears. His tracks are elastic, urgent, always playful, joyfully obstinate and with double bottoms and open ends.

As bonus tracks to this reissue, Altercat included both sides from Zéca's rare 1977 single, featuring the almighty trio Azymuth.

'Last Call For Love' is an intriguing nine-track album by poet, songwriter, singer and video artist Sandra Zemor. Her songs are inspired by a.o. Nachman of Breslov, Leonard Cohen and the Kabalah.

Zenobia : Halak halak

Emerging from the vibrant Palestinian electronic music scene, Zenobia have made a big impression over a short period of time: the band started performing a couple of years ago, and has already toured around the globe. Zenobia's music combines powerful beats, Levantine dabke rhythms and Arabic pop melodies. The band draw their inspiration from pop and folk music from all over the region (Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria). They refine their songs by taking them back and forth between their studio and the stage, where they improvise a lot, and feed off the audience reactions. The band consists of Nasser Halahlih and Isam Elias. Nasser was a pioneer in the local scene, he was arguably the first Palestinian electronic music producer, back in the late '90s. Young, fleet-fingered keyboardist Isam's background is in European classical music, he grew up in Nazareth, while Nasser hails from (and still lives) in Shefa Amr, a small town situated between Haifa and Nazareth.

Zwarg, Mariana / Sexteto Universal : Nascentes

Mariana Zwarg represents the third generation of musicians playing the tradition of music created by her godfather, Hermeto Pascoal from Brazil. She is a multi-talented flautist, saxophonist, composer and arranger and bandleader. 'Nascentes' is Zwarg's debut album and her first solo project. Including eight self-composed songs, a theme by Hermeto Pascoal and a theme by Itiberê Zwarg, who makes a guest appearance.

EDITION OF 500. DELUXE TRIPLE-LP with remastered sound and including a BONUS 7-INCH. Like the original copies, this reissue comes in a metallic silver and gold embossed cardboard gatefold gimmick sleeve, which even has a little mirror in it. The insert features liners and rare pix. Originally released on Philips in 1970 (but soon after withdrawn!), Zweistein's trippy kraut/psych/experimental masterpiece, which sounds more experimental than Faust, Kraftwerk or Cluster, gets its first vinyl reissue ever. Though presented as a band, Zweistein basically was the project of Suzanne Doucet, a successful German pop singer and TV personality then, and now a famous voice in New Age music. She recorded her avant-garde master piece with her sister Diane and sound engineer Peter Kramper, who's also been involved in recordings of The Rattles, Blizzards, Hawkwind, Amon Düül and Utopia. This is an amazing reissue!

Ziúr's music has always been difficult to classify. A longtime fixture in Berlin's nightlife, the musician, producer and DJ has cut through decades of threads to arrive on a sound that accurately represents her journey. She's sung, played guitar and drums and reduced club music to a burning cinder; with 'Antifate', her third album under the Ziúr moniker, she approaches electronic music without any preciousness or reverence to genre.
