Originally released in 1969, 'Poe Through The Glass Prism' was one of the first ever concept-based rock albums. This Scranton, PA band (the first rock group from the Northeast to perform on national television shows and obtain a major record label deal) adapted Edgar Allan Poe poems to psychedelic rock with stunning results: swirling organ, fuzz bursts, passionate vocals... the sound quality was exceptional as the album was engineered and produced by Les Paul (the legendary inventor of the electric guitar and many studio recording devices) at his recording studio in New York. The album and its single 'The Raven' hit the Billboard, Cashbox and Record World charts in 1969 and remained on for several weeks. Third album by Glen, the Berlin/Athens based instrumental unit, lead by multi instrumentalist, film score composer and guitarist Wilhelm Stegmeier and visual artist and guitarist Eleni Ampelakiotou. Following up their promising previous second album 'Pull!' (2021), pursuing an abrasive reductionism, merging contrasting textures to a unique narration of swelling chords, melodic patterns and abstract noise, Glen sets with focused energetic turmoil their mark on the map of instrumental elegies. With new collaborators on drums, Lucia Martinez and Achim Faerber, supported on bass by Roland Feinaeugle, Glen have crafted an album that breaths an air of mystery, tension and suspenseful furor.

As a mostly instrumental band with the classic line up of two guitars, bass and drums, Glen deconstructs popular and classical music genres scratching them together with experimental expression and attitude. Glen revises the supposedly light atmosphere of melodic pop fragments to a complex epic multilayered hypnotic structure of free improvisation and repetitive themes, breaking loose either to dionysian chaos or escaping to poetic cinematic soundscapes. Here's a really appealing album by a Portuguese ROCK band whose music is firmly rooted in MELODIC '60s POP. These four kids write truly infective songs, with catchy hooks and tunes that stick to your brain like chewing gum to the soles of your shoes. The production is energetic and sharp, but certainly not raw or unpolished. The band members call their music "trash pop", but as Miles Davis would say, you may call it anything.

Gmm With Robotnick : Don't ask me why/love supreme

One of the most sought-after Italo-disco releases, the combined effort of Giovanotti Mondani Meccanici and Alexander Robotnick saw the light of the day in 1986 on Fuzz Dance, Materiali Sonori's sub-label ran by the wizard Giampiero Bigazzi. Florence born producer and musician Maurizio Dami created a mysterious character, a so-called "modular structure born out of a Soviet calculator and promptly runaway." His classic 'Problemes D'Amour' was featured on the influential Strut compilation 'Disco Not Disco 2.' GMM was an even more enigmatic character, one of the most unclassifiable audiovisual experiences to emerge from Italy in the 1980s. Maurizio Dami itself was responsible for the group's music output, while the unit was founded in 1984 by Antonio Glessi and Andrea Zingoni as an art collective whose production represents the quintessential expression of postmodern transmedia hybridity. Fully remastered and licensed, limited to 500 copies on clear vinyl.

...Dreams". It is sophisticated progressive rock, taking a lot from symphonic rock (early King Crimson, Genesis) and from evolved hard rock (Rush, Triumph). In 2004 they participated in the much-anticipated Tribute to King Crimson, edited by Mellow with the collaboration of other Italian labels. Goad chose Epitaph, one of the most beautiful pieces from Robert Fripps band, whose symphonic panoply has always been a reference for Rossi and the group. The cover of Have You Heard - The Voyage by The Moody Blues is also made and would appear soon after on the tribute CD organized by Mellow Records. With great musicians like Gianfranco Dini, first French horn of Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Leonardo Tini, Nicola Di Staso, former Frank Zappa band member from the RAI orchestra, the album The Wood - Dedicated to H.P. Lovecraft was recorded. Mellow Records put it out in 2006. Toward the end of 2005, the group met Black Widow Records, possibly the most "alchemical" label in Italy, if not on the whole planet. An atmosphere was established between the musicians and the company that brought them quickly to the decision that they should work on some pieces from Dark Virgin. They would take those most in keeping with the style of the label, re-arrange them, modify them, record some new ones, and face the difficult task of testing themselves with a couple of absolute masterpieces like Killer by VDGG and 21st Century Schizoid Man by King Crimson. Goad, with fresh enthusiasm, manage to quickly write a new work entitled In the House of the Dark Shining Dreams, for which they prepared a new graphic look. Musically, the characteristics of the group remain the same, but this time the general sound seems substantial and energetic. There are sounds and atmospheres with no tempo, alive with genial lucidity they alternate between explosions of creative sound and moments of profound gothic romanticism. A new era for GOAD.

The five tracks were compiled from their debut CD 'New Games' (2013) and their second album 'Rhythm & Sound' (2015). The titles of those releases provide a hint: a sense of joyful play within defined structures, and an emphasis on propulsive pulse and a prioritizing of pure percussive sound over melodic content. With guitar, bass, drums and saxophone, goat create music which is unlike any rock band, utilizing harmonics outside standard tonality, as well as clever muting, to craft the intricate, driven, forceful compositions of Koshiro Hino, aka YPY.
