The Rockpalast appearance on March 15, 1986 in the Grugahalle in Essen was the beginning of the tour for the third album 'The Seer'. The band played material from their first three albums, which was surprisingly powerful and consistent. At the 1991 Rockpalast gig in September at the Biskuithalle in Bonn, the band's commitment to the enthusiastic audience was obvious. While the band's sound had moved somewhat less clearly in the Scottish direction on the new material, the joy was there and again they presented an exciting performance.

When John Cale was invited to the Rockpalast Festival on October 14, 1984, he had just released the desolate 'Music For A New Society' (1982), 'Caribbean Sunset' (1983) and the live album 'John Cale Comes Alive' (1984). In contrast to the latter official live album, Cale's performance at Rockpalast was far more intense, desperate and unbridled. To this day, this performance represents one of the most remarkable and spectacular concerts in the history of Rockpalast. In sharp, charming contrast to this concert however, is his solo concert, which was recorded in the Zeche in Bochum on March 6, 1983, showing an introverted musician: a man and his guitar and piano captivate with the best songs of his career. The recording presents the third edition of the Coyne Band, including guitarist Andy Summers (The Police) and pianist Zoot Money (Animals, Eric Burdon, Mick Taylor, Humble Pie). Kevin Coyne at an early peak of his long and checkered career with now-classic songs from his vast artistic legacy. Celebrated by critics at the time as a great blues and rock voice from England, Kevin Coyne was one of the singer-songwriters who sang about dark themes with ruthless emotionality and intensity. This is the only officially available live document from this band. The 2001 unreleased concert is not only a very nice addition to the work of the artist Kevin Coyne, but also offers a comparison of his development after a quarter of a century by comparing it to the recording from 1975.

With the Barons, the Texas guitarist John Nitzinger released a couple of singles for a smaller label in his hometown of Fort Worth in the mid-1960's. From 1968 Nitzinger went solo for the first time, with the then still quite young T-Bone Burnett as producer. In the 1980's Nitzinger founded the band PM with the drummer Carl Palmer from Emerson, Lake and Palmer and he also played guitar on Alice Cooper's 'Zipper Catches Skin' album. This CD plus DVD set captures the 2001 performance at Rockpalast after John had taken a long break from music.

The history of the successful Scottish band Runrig lasted from 1973 to 2018. The band plays rock music with strong Scottish influences, and they wrote historical Scottish lyrics and composed songs in Gaelic. Runrig were guests at the Rockpalast of the WDR three times in their career. Two of these concerts are now coming in a CD/DVD box set: on February 3, 1996 they were guests in the Düsseldorf Philippshalle, on December 15, 2001 in the Palladium in Cologne. A unique document from the history of the band, because here the band shows up again with their two front men, in 1996 with Donnie Munro, in 2001 with his successor Bruce Guthro.

British psychedelic blues rock band Steamhammer was formed in late 1968 by Martin Quittenton (guitar), Kieran White (vocals, harmonica, guitar), Martin Pugh (guitar), Steve Davy (bass) and Michael Rushton (drums). they released a handul of albums, of which 'Speech' was released posthumously in 1972, after the death of Mick Bradley. Now, exactly 50 years after the release of 'Speech' and 53 years after Pugh and Sears first worked together on the band's debut, Steamhammer will release the 'Wailing Again' with new compositions. Alongside the 1968 founding member Martin Pugh (guitars) and Pete Sears (bass, keyboards and backing vocals), also a former member of Jefferson Starship from 1974 to 1987, Manfred Mann's Earth Band drummer John Lingwood, who joined Steamhammer in 1972, and Phil Colombatto (vocals & harmonica).
