Founded in Kent in the late sixties, Pig Rider and its many offshoots have seen nearly 60 different players. Original membersColin Kitchener and John Mayes however have always beenconstant factors. This CD contains two albums (1974's 'Bloody Turkey Sandwiches' and 1975's 'Heterophonies') which were pressed by the UK custom label Deroy in editions of only six and five copies respectively. Musically we're talking electric acid folk with a stoned DIY vibe and lo-fi sound, bizarre and funny lyrics, effects, backward bits, surreal humour, psychedelic skiffle, old-time music hall parodies and brilliant folk-rock-pop. Not only for fans of the Incredible String Band, Bonzo Dog Band, Syd Barrett or R. Stevie Moore... Comes with sound from the master tapes and a booklet containing photos and lyrics.

This is a vinyl reissue of their unofficial LP 'Heterophonics', originally pressed by the English custom label Deroy as a very private edition of five acetates in 1975. Pig Rider was formed in Kent, UK, in the late '60s by JohnMayes and Colin Kitchener. With a lil' help from some friendsthey recorded and self-released a series of acetate onlypsych-folk albums in the mid-'70s ('Heterophonies', 'BloodyTurkey Sandwiches'), which are prime examples of early DIYpsychedelic music, and highly sought-after since a review of'Heterophonies' appeared in the 'Galactic Ramble' book. ThisDOUBLE-DISC compilation however features tracks recordedbetween 1980 and 1986, a period in which the members listenedto the Bonzos, Pink Floyd and The Misunderstood. Although these bands were influences, the music is largely characterized bythe available instruments and what could be done with them,also in unconventional ways. The result? A totally unique styleof DIY psychedelic pop! Truly jaw dropping stuff! This CD edition comes with four bonus tracks.
