Youthsayers was established in 2016 and ever since has consistently provided free of charge opportunities for young people to come together, learn an instrument and perform music under the tutelage of Robin and Idris. This has been made possible, in part, through donations from local businesses and private benefactors, but also live fundraisers and now through commercially released music! 'Don't Blame The Youth' is a snapshot of the current Youthsayers band, and recent alumni, who've gone on to form other bands in the world of jazz, reggae and beyond, including recent signings to Gilles Peterson's Brownswood imprint, Oreglo.

Cosmonauts from the East and astronauts from the West have made us fantasize about space travel for about half a decade now. Since acts like Hawkwind started to provide mankind with a soundtrack to NASA's and Rosaviakosmos' activities the space rock phenomenon has spread to all corners of our planet. The epicentre of this musical division of interstellar space exploration is the city of Gothenburg in Sweden, were bands like First Band From Outer Space, Hills, The Movements, Uran and Yuri Gagarin are the leading scientists. Yuri Gagarin's second album 'At The Center Of All Infinity was originally released in 2015. The artwork was made by Swedish artist Pahl Sundstrom.

'IRANIAN FOLK SONGS' - Travel back in time to the modern pre-revolution Teheran and dig this wonderful, ear-catching album from 1976 by Iranian female singer Pari Zangeneh. Traditional Persian folk songs with a lovely, sweet psychedelic flavor with the use of beautiful strings, flutes, charming and tasty drumming, some organ and orchestration, percussions... imagine a Persian version of Mellow Candle or Vashti Bunyan and you're there! Born in 1939 in Kermanshah (Iran), Pari Zangeneh is a soprano singer that lost her sight after a car accident in 1972. Her work over the years on restoring traditional Persian music and regional folk songs is invaluable. In 1976 she recorded this very unique album commissioned by Kanoon (Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults), a social organization that produced many kinds of materials (books, films, records) for children in Iran. The arrangements were done by Varoujan (famous for his work with Googoosh, Dariush, etc...). Sourced from the original masters. Comes in hard cardboard sleeve with obi and includes download card. Limited to 318 hand-numbered copies on blue vinyl.

Frank Zappa and the 'We're Only In It For The Money' line-up of The Mothers Of Invention started their second European tour in the autumn of 1968 with a number of dates in Germany. Whilst in the country, they recorded a 35-minute session for the TV show 'Beat Club' on October 6th consisting of a partly improvised, all instrumental piece drawing mainly on themes that would appear on their 1969 album 'Uncle Meat.' It also includes snatches of The Five Tinos' 'Don't Do That' and Wagner's 'Lohengrin,' presumably played specially for their German audience. The Essen Music Festival had footed the bill for the group's ten thousand dollar air fare and this LP features a fifteen-minute version of 'King Kong' from that show. This is vintage Frank Zappa at his most creative and the sound quality is excellent.

A reissue of one of the biggest cult albums in the history of Crammed Discs. This record is constantly being (re)discovered by generations of fans, musicians and DJ's, who hail it as an unsurpassed Afro/electronic milestone. The album, recorded in 1983, resulted from a studio encounter between experimental electronic music composers CY1, Congolese musician/vocalist Bony Bikaye, and French composer Hector Zazou. "Fela Kuti-meets-Kraftwerk-on-the-dancefloor" is how International Musician magazine described this work back in '86.

Away from radio, TV and with live performances increasingly scarce at the end of the seventies, Tom Zé was a risky investment for record labels, agents, and gig promoters. Always eager to please his sense for innovation and his creativity Tom Zé wanted to release an album again after the cult 'Estudando O Samba' (1976). So came this, a record where the tension was at the script, in the distressing real life chronicles that the artist interpreted and reported also in an autobiographic manner. At 'Correio Da Estaçao Do Brás' (1978) Tom Zé had done what seemed impossible: contemporary working-class music not for the elite but for the people itself. Reissued for the first time outside of Brazil. Tom Zé is considered the most "paulista" of all Tropicalistas. He came from Bahia, but his wry urban poetry, infused with the uncomfortable sounds of the largest metropolis of South America, is pure Sao Paulo. The variety of musical genres in the LP - samba, sertanejo, bolero, xote, repente and forró - reflects the cultural diversity of the Brás neighbourhood, a meeting point of Italians, Nordestinos, Africans and Latinos. This reissue includes unseen photos, new testimonials from Tom Zé himself and a lengthy article signed by Bento Araujo, author of the book series 'Lindo Sonho Delirante.'

Ze:A : The swimming city

Since 2008 Zea is the solo project of Arnold de Boer (who is also singer and guitarist in Dutch band The Ex, since 2009). Before 2008 Zea was a duo and earlier a five piece band, but the songs were always written, arranged, recorded and produced by De Boer. 'The Swimming City' is Zea's fifth album, and the first one featuring guest artists. Immediately in the first song 'Sub Specie Ludens' Mats Gustafsson appears on baritone sax and 'People Shrink, People Grow' features Oscar Jan Hoogland on piano, who returns in 'All Words Have Been Here First', the song that also features the characteristic and recognisable clarinet playing of Xavier Charles who De Boer made a 7" single with in 2012 called 'Bourgeois Blues' (Makkum Records, MR 5). Zea has toured all over the world and played in thirty five different countries including Ethiopia and Ghana. In Ghana Zea set up a studio with local musicians where two of the songs on 'The Swimming City' were recorded: 'Dark Minded Me' and 'Ik Kin Der Net By'. This last song is sung in Frysian, De Boer's first language, who grew up in a small town called Makkum, in Fryslan in the northern part of The Netherlands. On this album Zea's songs sound more open and versatile. Zea music is direct music; fat-free and no words wasted. Some songs are about consciousness and some songs are about simple things; Zea can take a subject out of the world of encyclopedia and move it into the musical mind. They are the frescos of he twenty first century, unfolding before your ears. His tracks are elastic, urgent, always playful, joyfully obstinate and with double bottoms and open ends.

As bonus tracks to this reissue, Altercat included both sides from Zéca's rare 1977 single, featuring the almighty trio Azymuth.

Previously issued on CD in 2003 and now available on DOUBLE-LP for the first time, it's Zeke's 'Live And Uncensored' collection! This release includes some of the band's best songs, including tracks from 'Super Sound Racing', 'Flat Tracker', 'Kicked In The Teeth', 'Dirty Sanchez' and 'Death Alley' recorded in different venues from Seattle to Las Vegas to Minneapolis. One of the other special treats this LP offers is it includes two very rare studio tracks that are pretty hard to find. There's 26 tracks in all with top notch production!

Zenobia : Halak halak

Emerging from the vibrant Palestinian electronic music scene, Zenobia have made a big impression over a short period of time: the band started performing a couple of years ago, and has already toured around the globe. Zenobia's music combines powerful beats, Levantine dabke rhythms and Arabic pop melodies. The band draw their inspiration from pop and folk music from all over the region (Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria). They refine their songs by taking them back and forth between their studio and the stage, where they improvise a lot, and feed off the audience reactions. The band consists of Nasser Halahlih and Isam Elias. Nasser was a pioneer in the local scene, he was arguably the first Palestinian electronic music producer, back in the late '90s. Young, fleet-fingered keyboardist Isam's background is in European classical music, he grew up in Nazareth, while Nasser hails from (and still lives) in Shefa Amr, a small town situated between Haifa and Nazareth.
