Alternative TV : The image has cracked

Formed in London in 1977 by Mark Perry and Alex Fergusson, then editors of the punk fanzine Sniffin' Glue, Alternative TV was a post-punk group known for incorporating reggae rhythms and pushing the boundaries of the definition of punk toward the experimental and avant-garde. Their first album, 'The Image Has Cracked,' came out originally in 1978 and is a wholly unique piece of British post-punk. Beloved by John Peel, and close confidantes of Throbbing Gristle, Alternative TV is one of the most original and beguiling groups of the era.

Blitz : The killing dream

Formed in the town of New Mills, Derbyshire in 1980, Oi legends Blitz revitalised the UK punk scene of the era, their incendiary debut 'Voice Of A Generation' was a massive commercial success, but the 1983 follow-up 'Second Empire Justice' had a different line-up and new wave orientation, pointing to fissures in the group; then, in 1990, guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Nidge Miller teamed up with former Attak frontman Gary Basnett for 'The Killing Dream,' a studio swansong that revived the name with Nidge fully in control. Devotees will love the sterling guitar work on this final piece of the Blitz jigsaw. Comes on clear vinyl.

Blood : Total megalomania

Legend has it that The Blood were 'discovered' by Cockney Rejects vocalist Jeff 'Stinky Turner' Geggus on the top deck of a bus in Charlton. What they were all doing on the South East London bus has never been fully explained! Still, it was Jeff who introduced Coming Blood (as they were then known) to 'Sounds' journalist Garry Bushell and, suitably impressed, he offered them a spot on the fourth volume of the Oi! compilation series, 'Oi! Oi! That's Yer Lot.' It wasn't just the punk scene that took to the band, the more open minded in the metal fraternity also embraced them, making them one of the first punk-metal crossover bands, equally at home with followers of the Anti-Nowhere League or Motörhead. Though the initial career of The Blood may only have been brief, the two singles, 12" and album they released have all stood the test of time, many of the songs later covered by bands not even born when they were first recorded! Boys : Boys only

Despite strong followings in Holland and Norway, where keyboardist Casino Steel hailed from, London power-pop pioneers The Boys never achieved the British breakthrough they were due, and after three albums failed to chart, Steel quit, making more space for the twin-guitar attack of Matt Dangerfield and frontman Honest John Plain. Final album 'Boys Only' held echoes of The Ronettes' riveting harmonies, the rock excess of Johnny Thunders and punky pop of the Ramones, 'Miss You' a country punk salute to John Wayne and 'Weekend' belatedly acknowledged as an edgy pop masterpiece. Innovative East LA Chicano punk rockers The Brat formed in 1978 when lead guitarist Rudy Medina and his guitarist nephew Sidney met singer-songwriter Teresa Covarrubias. Carpettes : Fight amongst yourselves

Neo-Mod act the Carpettes began as a Stones-influenced school band, formed in the small northeast Norman town of Houghton-le-Spring in the mid-1970s, the trio of frontman Neil Thompson, bassist George Maddison, and drummer Kevin Heard shifting to punk before signing to Small Wonder as a Mod revival act. By the time they joined the Beggar's Banquet roster in 1978, Heard was replaced by Tim Wilder (with Simon Smith of the Merton Parkas briefly in the fold). Chaos UK : Kings for a day

Conflict : It's time to see who's who

Released in 1983 on London's Legendary Mortarhate label, Conflict's debut broke all rules in punk rock, setting new standards and storming independent charts, reaching and retaining position number 1 for several weeks. Formed in 1981 and led by vocalist Colin Jerwood, who would remain one of the group's few constants throughout its 30 years of existence, and fueled by hatred for the media, the military and the general status quo of late century Thatcher's England, Conflict has been a stainless model for three generation of peace punkers, activists and anarchists from all over the world.

Crack : In search of the crack

Founded in 1982, The Crack didn't release their debut album until 1989. These British punkers were often tied into the Oi! scene of the mid-'80s along with Cockney Rejects and The Business, but they had more in common with the melodic punk stylings of 999 and mod groups like The Jam or Secret Affair. Featuring a blistering wall of guitars and biting melodies, from the classic album opener 'My World' to the raw closer 'The Giddy House' The LP offers 10 fantastic original tunes that, while firmly rooted in 1980s UK anthemic punk, also features a pop sensibility that presages the oncoming Brit-pop scene that would absolutely dominate the '90s. Seriously, we'd bet the farm that the young Gallagher brothers were blasting this back in 1989. Cyanide : Cyanide (black)

Lesser-known punk band Cyanide formed in the northern cathedral city of York in 1976, the four lads based at the Old Priory Youth Club. After cutting a couple of demos soon after their formation, in time the band's reputation was such that they were playing the Roxy in London and during their rapid ascent, the quartet managed to score a contract with major label Pye for their self-titled debut album, recorded in December 1976 and produced by Ron O'Shea, who ironically got his start with orchestral easy listening. A fun set of tongue-in-cheek first-wave punk originals, the album also includes a spirited cover version of The Who's 'I'm A Boy.'

Dils : Dils dils dils

Legendary punk trio the Dils formed in San Diego in southern California and when they moved to San Francisco, bassist Tony Kinman found himself living with the Avengers, but once they hit Los Angeles in 1977 they began recording frantic singles for fledgling independents such as What? Records, Dangerhouse and Rogelleti for more melodic, country-influenced songs, pointing to their further reincarnation as Rank & File. Ace compilation 'Dils Dils Dils' gathers early studio work and live recordings, this edition featuring two bonus tracks, recorded in LA in 1979. Crucial listening for all Dils fans! Disorder : Under the scalpel blade (it)

Repress of 500 copies on burgundy vinyl. Bristol punk pioneers Disorder formed around 1980, during the second wave of UK punk rock. Their approach to DIY ethics was so deep that they decided not to sign to Riot City, but to create a label of their own, for a bunch of classic singles the average distortion level of which led BBC DJ John Peel to describe Disorder as sounding like "shit". In fact, unlike many contemporaries like Crass or Conflict, Disorder showed no ambitions in stylistic experimentation: their 1984 debut LP 'Under The Scalpel Blade' is one blast after the other of pure rage, packaged in two-minute bursts of hyper-speed drumming, distorted guitars, and screaming vocals.

Exit-stance : While backs are turned... (white)

Anarcho-punks and animal rights activists Exit-Stance emerged from the anonymous new town of Milton Keynes, coming together in 1982 from the ashes of hardcore act Fuck Authority. Early gigs which featured disturbing anti-religious images displayed behind the group saw them banned from many a venue, but once Colin Jerwood of Conflict got in touch, they decamped to the studio to cut the blistering EP 'While Backs Are Turned...,' speaking out against animal testing and the perils of meat market slaughterhouses, as well as negative aspects of Christian domination. Exploited : Live at the whitehouse (splatter)

Repress of 300 copies on splatter vinyl. Formed on a grim council estate in Edinburgh in 1979 by singer Terry Buchan and guitarist Stevie Ross with bassist Alan Paget and drummer Andy McNiven, The Exploited became one of the most popular and notorious of all hardcore punk bands. When they signed to Secret Records in 1981 for debut LP 'Punks Not Dead', Terry had been replaced by his ex-soldier brother Wattie (who became group leader thereafter), with guitarist Big John Duncan, drummer Dru Stix, and bassist Gary McCormack; by the time 'Let's Start A War...' was released (1983), the group featured Wattie's brother Willie on drums and Billy Dunn on bass, while 'Horror Epics' (1985) had Wayne Tyas on bass and Karl "Egghead" Morris on guitar. That same line-up is featured on 'Live At The Whitehouse', a riveting and lengthy performance recorded in Washington, DC in April 1985; highlights includes the opening 'Let's Start A War', dedicated to Argentina, a swear-ridden 'God Save The Queen', a take of 'Rival Leaders' aimed at Reagan and Thatcher, 'I Hate You' (with a reverse Jello Biafra reference), a castigating 'Daily News' aimed at fanzine Maximum Rock n Roll, and a rousing 'Punks Not Dead' encore.

Extreme Noise Terror : The original holocaust (it/black)

THE UNISSUED ORIGINAL RECORDING FOR THEIR DEBUT ALBUM 'A HOLOCAUST IN YOUR HEAD'! How many bands can say they had multiple debut albums? For crustcore sound terrorists Extreme Noise Terror, 'A Holocaust In Your Head - The Original Holocaust,' the first recording version, continues to excuse itself in being reissued for what must be the last time before the last time. It's no wonder why. 'We The Helpless' is every bit as hopeless as it sounds - a blitzkrieg of wails and nightmarish sonics that tighten themselves around the temples until the eyes turn white. 'Statement' will always stand on its own two feet as a perfect set opener and 'Innocence To Ignorance's unhinged atmospheric armageddon as well as 'Use Your Mind's sample-sprung assault on the senses are possible indications of where the band could've wound up had their line-up not been walking such a shaky tightrope. Rough as hell? Sure. But if you want to know what it feels like to have the signal input of your skull reflect a separation in the grounding circuit of the flesh from the neck down, then carry on screaming. Extreme Noise Terror : A holocaust in your head (red)

Away from the grandeur, and although their line-up history is full of potholes - the key to unlock this classic release by Extreme Noise Terror, 'A Holocaust In Your Head' is the double-edged vocal prongs from ENT founders Phil Vane and Dean Jones and the black-avalanche guitars of Steve Hurley (not forgetting the drum stool occupied by Mick Harris, soon to be of Scorn during the recording of this album, and Doom's Tony "Stick" Dickens). 'Statement' is as good as any opening gambit for a band - a trail of sludge setting fire to itself consuming the raw, political ashtray mantras spewed into its thick, corrosive grip. 'Another Nail In The Coffin' suitably devastating the senses as a wrecking ball swings from its chain into the side of a condemned building, brick by brick. Eaten. Buried. Poster included.

Frantic Flintstones : Not christmas album

Arising in the mid-1980s during the second wave of British psychobilly, the Frantic Flintstones was formed in Didcot, outside Oxford, by singer Chuck Harvey and former Meteors drummer Toby Griffin, who soon left. Following a debut EP on Raucous and the chart-topping 'A Nightmare On Nervous,' with drummer Andy Celbo, the group signed to Links just as guitarist Pug Pete joined the fold. 'Not Christmas Album,' their fourth for Links, is one of their most popular LPs, and rightly so, with 'Frantic' mutating Prince Buster's 'Madness' and 'Blue Christmas' one of several Xmas-themed numbers. British psychobilly at its best!

Harper, Charlie : Stolen property

Before embracing punk through the influence of bands like The Damned, UK Subs frontman Charlie Harper was active in pub rock groups, so when he decided to cut his debut solo album for Flicknife Records in 1981, he returned to classic rock'n'roll and R&B, cutting an enjoyable covers album with fellow Subs Steve Slack and Pete Davies in tow. Tune in to this long lost gem to catch the other side of Charlie, who delivers one-off takes of Hendrix's 'Hey Joe,' The Doors' 'Light My Fire,' the Velvets' 'Femme Fatale' and Muddy Waters' 'Hoochie Coochie Man,' among others. Hector (UK) : Demolition - the wired up world of hector

Never-before-heard unreleased junkshop glam gold dust from the genre's No. 1 band. Portsmouth's Hector are widely regarded as the very best of the junkshop glam rock bands introduced to us in the early 2000s by the RPM's lipsmackin' '70s CD series. Recently discovered archive analogue tape recordings found in the attic of frontman Phil Brown form this unique album. The band's original DJM singles together with 'Demolition', an unreleased third single, join forces with outtakes, demos, live and rehearsal recordings to make this release an unmissable opportunity for glam rock fans worldwide to hear more from the band whose anthem 'Wired Up' has been adopted as a battle cry by a new audience of fans with books, fanzines, radio shows and club nights proudly named after it. Hector's 'Wired Up' was released in 1973. It had all the ingredients of a hit single. It should have topped the charts and launched a spectacular career for the band. In a fair world, the name Hector would be mentioned alongside bands like Sweet and Slade. Unfortunately, timing and luck weren't on their side. The product was there, the press coverage was there, the Radio 1 airplay (which was everything back then) wasn't and the kids that did hear it must have been deaf, dumb and blind. The plug was finally pulled in 1975 after their second single 'Bye Bye Bad Days', another poky punch of proto punk dressed up in a velvet glove, also failed to become a heavy-hitter. 'Demolition - The Wired Up World Of Hector' is not a phoenix from the ashes. It is Pompey* from Pompeii. Tunes from the ruins. Glamour in amber; perfectly preserved. Hellbastard : Heading for internal darkness (2lp/it/red)

A manic clash of guitars, bass and drums beating each other's brains out in the same sonic bullring? Check. Despite already (if a little unbeknownst) being considered crust pioneers, by 1988, Hellbastard had firmly inserted themselves, even proudly so, in between a series of bifurcated genre schisms well-protected by those scene's respected guardians. Their official debut, 'Heading For Internal Darkness' no less perfectly exemplifies that schism. With Wendy V Gill's haunted-cosmos monologues injecting some transcendental light into the neck otherwise being mercilessly ripped to pieces by Scruff and Scotty's spaced-out vocal grunts, opener 'We Had Evidence' to the equally arresting elevator-shaft-with-a-mind-of-its-own 'Death Camp' to 'The Pylons' whip up seriously dark whirlwinds into atmospheric dances of rapid energy and relentless spasms of spellcasting drama. Never mind metal, too punk for anything. Limited to 100 copies on red vinyl.

Hellbastard : Genocidal crust (2lp/white)

'THE DEMOS 1986-1987' - Either intentionally or unwittingly this is a band experimenting with extremes. Formed in 1985 when Thatcherism swooped over England and scalped the North East, Hellbastard admit to being "too metal for punk, too punk for metal," instead coining the term "crust" as a way to feel at peace within themselves whilst simultaneously starting a sonic war that shocked the nerves into spools of frayed tape. With Malcolm "Scruff" Lewty on guitar and vocals, Ian "Scotty" Scott on bass and vocals and Phil Laidlow on drums, it was all captured with their classic 'Rippercrust' demo debut release in '86. But really, it's all encapsulated right here with this reissue also containing the follow-up demo-lition from '87 - 'Hate Militia.' Both are perfect ways to establish the nightmarish worlds, of death camps and dark sides, that wildly writhe within his group's menacing worldview.

Inocentes : Miseria e fome e mais

Inocentes' 'Miseria E Fome E Mais' LP on Radiation and Brazialian cult label Nada Nada collects the full 'Miseria E Fome' LP, along with one unreleased track from the same session and the whole Inocentes set from the legendary 'O Comeco Da Fim Do Mundo' festival from 1982. Sourced from the original master tapes from 1983, this limited to 500 vinyl reissue comes with poster and printed inner with uneeen photos provided by the band. Fully remastered sound for both recordings, this is an enhanced overdue tribute to one of most iconic names of Sao Paulo's first wave of punk rock.

Kids : The kids

Hailing from Antwerp, Belgium, the Kids formed in 1976 to prove to the world that punk was more than just a London vs New York fashion contest. Originally released on the PHILIPS label in 1978, and highly acclaimed as one of the best punk records EVER, the Kids' debut album is now available on cassette, with two bonus tracks recorded in 1977. Originally released a mere eight months after their groundbreaking 1978 self-titled debut LP, The Kids' second album is a pure masterpiece of straightforward punk rock. A little less raw than their previous material, but still far from the new wave sounds the band started experimenting with on their following records, 'Naughty Kids' remains one of the best examples of non-UK '70s punk and definitely a mandatory addition to the collection of any 'Killed By Death' fanatic! Legal Weapon : Death of innocence

Pioneering LA punk band Legal Weapon was formed in 1980 from the ashes of The Silencers, which Steve Reiner formed with guitarist Brian Hansen and vocalist Kat Arthur. By the time of this riveting 1982 debut LP, the band had Arthur, Hansen, future Adolescents/Agent Orange bassist Steve Soto, and drummer Charlie Vartanian. Just as Exene Cervenka was a primary draw in X and Penelope Houston in The Avengers, Kat Arthur is the major lure that kept this band outstanding, as Hansen and Soto vary the musical action, keeping their hardcore on the melodic side throughout. Essential listening for west coast punk fans! Mau Maus : Fear no evil (col)

Formed in the northern industrial city of Sheffield, Mau Maus were reputedly one of the first British hardcore bands, first comprised of frontman Chris Taylor, guitarist 'Lev' Levick, bassist Kevin 'Bunny' Warren, drummer Paul 'Podge' Baker, with Alf then taking over the bass, once Bunny shifted to backing vocals. Following singles on local punk label Pax that hit the Indie charts and concert album 'Live At The Marples,' the group launched their own Rebellion label with 'Tear Down The Walls,' paving the way for the excellent debut 'Fear No Evil,' produced with zest by The Mission's Simon Hinkler. Mood Of Defiance : Now (black)

Southern Los Angeles experimental punk band Mood of Defiance was formed in Hermosa Beach in 1981, spinning off from a short-lived synthesizer project called Kindled Imagination, formed in nearby San Pedro (home to The Minutemen) with drummer Richie Wilder of Saccharine Trust. Teenaged lead singer and band originator Rachel Morgan, who was known as "Screaming Bitch Rachel" and later, Hatha Watha, formed MOD with Wilder,recruiting initial guitarist TA Black and bassist Kevin Ball from a music press advertisement. Debut demo recordings (eventually issued as 'In A Box') featured this line-up but after Black and Ball quit the band, they were replaced by Danny Dean Philips and Gary Kail from the band Anti, moonlighting in this side project for debut album 'Now', released on Philips' and Kail's aptly-titled New Underground label in 1982; other band members featured on the disc include drummer Thaddeus. Opener 'Divided States Of America' set the disc's defiant punktone, though 'Sticky Lips' and 'Girl In A Painting' are less caustic, with broader musical dexterity and post-punk rhythmic references. An important piece of southern Calfornia punkhistory back on vinyl after 38 years.

Paranoia : Shattered glass (black)

Skating the lines of punk, post-punk and goth, Paranoia was formed in the northern potter's town of Stoke-On-Trent from the ashes of politically-oriented protest group Civil Defence. With the Brereton Brothers on drums and guitar, and bassist Mick Edgington and his wife Jan on vocals, the group had an intimacy not often encountered in punk, their outlook and northern location bringing them onto Riot Squad's Rot Records for this sole LP. The music is fast, bold and deals with pertinent themes, 'Vietnam,' '1984' and 'My World' protesting political failures, 'Dead Mans Dreams' and 'Man In Black' edging towards the gothic. An overlooked classic that reflects the underground musical shifts of the early 1980s.

Raxola : Raxola

Belgian punk innovators RAXOLA formed in 1977, the name denoting Revolution Axis Opens Lights Ahead, one of only three Belgian punk acts to record an album in the early days. Guitarist/vocalist Yves Kengen, alias Yke, launched the trio with bassist Louis Hubeau and drummer Guy Van Snick, overlapping with the time that Kengen played bass in Bastard with Brian James, who returned to the UK to join London SS and ultimately, The Damned. Raxola's self-titled debut is a furious, melodic, and intelligent blast of first-wave Euro-punk, a long sought-after classic whose originals go for silly money, now fully ripe for rediscovery.

S.i.b. : The third world war

First-ever vinyl reissue. Limited edition of 500 copies on black vinyl in gatefold sleeve with double-sided insert and liner notes by Stefano Gilardino. Founded in the northern Italian port city of Ravenna in the summer of 1980, S.I.B. (Swelling Itching Brain) was comprised of former members of new wave covers band R.N.A. Transfert and singer Tracy Crazy, a huge UK Subs fan. The band's scorching live performances drew a loyal following, leading to an approach by L.M. Records, Ravenna's foremost punk and new wave imprint, to cut 'The Third World War,' their sole lp. The band's sound was a very personal one, with reggae, punk, hardcore and new wave all part of the mix - too varied for an audience strictly loyal to genre boundaries. Unjustly overlooked following the group's demise, Radiation Reissues is pleased to give 'The Third World War' the reissue it deserves some 40 years later.

Section 5 : We won't change

Formed in the northern English market town of Stoke on Trent in 1981, likeable street punk/oi! trio Section 5 built a reputation through their solid live gigs, bagging a contract with Roddy Moreno's Oi! Records for debut album 'We Won't Change' in 1985. This expanded edition of that top-notch LP includes five bonus demos recorded when the group was a four-piece, with Dave 'Mask' Maskery on lead vocals, before his departure led founding member/guitarist Tosh to tackle the front-man duties. Telescopes : Taste

Midlands experimental group the Telescopes were not your average '80s band. Instead of opting for formulaic guitar jangles, the group mashed up psychedelia, space rock, noise rock and indie, with a touch of chamber music here and there. Debut album 'Taste' from 1989 is considered their masterpiece, and rightly so, the unique result stemming from frontman Stephen Lawrie's creative vision. The triple-guitar onslaught tips things over the edge in places, yet there are also cool moments of respite. An absolute masterpiece of the whole shoegaze era, and one of the most influential LPs in '90s alternative rock. Dive in, soak up and be amazed.

Toy Dolls : Idle gossip (white)

Tongue-in-cheek punk act Toy Dolls came together in the northeast formerly industrial town of Sunderland, England in 1979 with working-class humour at the forefront of everything and frontman Olga breaking up the Oi singalongs with searing guitar assaults. Issued on the independent Volume label as usual, third album Idle Gossip continued in the same mould as their first two LPs with 'Geordie's Gone To Jail,' 'Keith's A Thief,' 'Silly Billy' and the title track all cracking numbers built on Olga and company's irresistible charm; 'I'll Get Even With Steven' even gives a po-faced punk nod to Elvis. Tozibabe : Ekreg meme ljudjie

'COMPLETE TOZIBABE 1985-2015' - Trail-blazing female punk band Tozibabe was the first girl group in Yugoslavia to write its own material, and one of the few female hardcore acts of Eastern Europe. Their furious, uncompromising songs had scathing, shouted vocals, and its members tackled different instruments, making them the stuff of legend. This wide-ranging compilation gathers material from the 'Hard-Core Ljubljana' compilation, their ground-breaking EP 'Dezuje,' live tracks from their appearance at Novi Rock in 1985 plus previously unreleased work from their 2015 reunion show. Raw hardcore, Tozibabe style!

U.X.A. : Illusions of grandeur

Non-standard Californian punkband United Experiments of America was formed in San Francisco in 1978, centring on frontwoman Denise Semiroux, alias De De Troit, and guitarist Michael Kowalsky, who tragically died of a heroin overdose that same year. Debut album 'Illusions Of Grandeur,' released by Posh Boy in 1980, captured the tense atmospheres and in-between nature of the group's sound, part hardcore and part dirge-rock. With original pressings trading at sky-high prices, this reissue comes with rarities 'Social Circle' and the angst-ridden theme song 'U.X.A.', from the esteemed 'Tooth And Nail' compilation. UK : Uk (black)

Formed in Lewisham, southeast London, punk band The Business joined the Oi! scene after supporting The 4 Skins in 1981. Debut single 'Harry May' hit the Indie charts before the group disintegrated, leading frontman Micky Fitz to recruit new members. Then, in 1987, original guitarist Nick Kent joined Fitz for heavy metal side project UK, with former Tank drummer Mark Brabbs, channelling their love of AC/DC, Motörhead and Rose Tattoo. As Kent goes all-out with the hard rock solos and Fitz aims for the melodic, this is a great slice of New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, and a startling surprise for all Business fans!

V/A : The vikings are coming (black)

Swedish punk began in the late '70s and by the mid-'80s, the small steel mill town of Fagersta had seven bands, immortalised on rare compilation 'The Vikings Are Coming...', which is surprisingly diverse: Bizarr's old-school punk is influenced by the Clash and SLF; Cruel Maniacs give social criticism and Crude SS's hardcoredraws on Discharge; Rescues In Future's speedcore is super melodic, influenced by Hüsker Dü; Fear Of War's thrash is anti-religious and there's more thrash from Bedrövlerz (or 'Miserablerz'), while Ugly Squaw proffer unique power-punk humour (also making an incognito faux-reggae appearance as Rasta Boys).
