The third album by Turkish psychedelic singer Edip Akbayram,originally released in 1982. This later album really ramps upthe silly synthesizers. Amanita : Sol y sombra

First ever vinyl reissue of this German private press from 1978. Produced and recorded by the group and only sold at local shops and venues back then, this is excellent and perfectly executed Latin funk/jazz/fusion with heavy Brazilian vibes. Including club classics like 'Sol Y Sombra' (pure Balearic sound, picked up by Jazzanova) and 'Just Like The Rainbow'. Includes insert and download card.

Buyukburc, Erol -ve Efsaneler- : Hop dedik

Years before Baris and even before the fame of Erkin Koray,Erol's flamboyant outfits and spontaneous behaviour brought ayouthful, pop-oriented world to Turkish audiences. Here's areissue of his first proper album from 1976. While not exactlypsychedelic, Erol's album shows how far the mix of Anatolianmelodies and Western production could reach and here you willfind some great examples of Turkish pop spiced with psych,disco and funk. The reissue includes an insert with photos andliner notes by Angela Sawyer.

Coskuner, Cengiz : Modern folk oyun halavari

Originally released in 1984, here's the first ever vinyl reissue of an album full of exotic/oriental belly dance instrumentals, courtesy of Turkish guitar master Cengiz Coskuner.

Edip Akbayram & Dostlar : Singles Overview 1974-1977

B-sides from hard-to-find 45s that never made it onto albums during singer Edip Akbayram's 1970s psychedelic period with the awesome Dostlar as backing band. Akbayram's voice glues together disparate arrangements that put ridiculous analog synthesizers up next to centuries-old mystic poetry; Anatolian melodies are enveloped by western touches like breakdowns for cosmic whispering, slammin' organ, or wild phasing effects on folk instruments that were never meant to support them.

El Turronero : New hondo

An excellent album, originally released by the Spanish label Belter in 1980, sees a welcome reissue. The music is an otherworldly mix of cosmic disco, funk, boogie and traditional flamenco styles, presented by Spanish "cantaor" El Turronero! This reissue comes with remastered sound, liner notes and rare photos.

Grupo Geyser : Singles 1970-1973

Hailing from Venezuela, Grupo Geyser was a pioneering group in fusing fuzzed-out psychedelic/acid rock with Latin and Afro Cuban rhythms. This is the band's first ever vinyl retrospective, including the tracks from the four singles originally released during 1970-1973. The included insert offers detailed liner notes by band member Publio Garcia and photos.

Karabocek, Gulden : Volume 1

Here's a superb compilation featuring some of the best single sides that Anadolu Pop singer Gülden Karaböcek released during the years 1974-'77. Synthesizers, bubbling bass and wah-wah guitars mix with traditional instruments s.a. the baglama and zurna. Expect catchy folk melodies wrapped in nippy prog/psych-funk arrangements that owe a lot to pioneering bands à la Baris Manco's 'Kurtalan Ekspres'.

Los Dandy's : Lindo amorcito

Los Dandy's was a Peruvian cumbia band that was formed in the'70s by the great Héctor Farfàn (Los Beta 5, Los Destellos) and that featured the superb vocals of the legendary Oswaldo "Guajiro" Ortega (Los Guajiros, Los Destellos) on most of the songs. This is a reissue of the band's rare album from 1985, originally released on the tiny Bamb label. Expect a great mix of cumbia, guarachas and tropical rhythms with cool Atari-styled electronic effects, reverb drenched electric guitars, infectious vocals and incredible lyrics.

Manco, Baris : Nick the chopper

Reissued on CD, 'Nick The Chopper' is the second proper studio album by the king of Turkish psych/Anatolian rock, Baris Manco. Originally released in 1976, this full-length was recorded in Belgium with help from session musicians related to Placebo, Janko Nilovic and Mad Unity among others. 'Nick The Chopper' features lyrics in English, huge orchestral sections and re-arrangements of many of the melodies from his masterpiece '2023'.

A spectacular collection of tracks, dating back to the mid-late'70s, by this popular Spanish duo that blended flamenco popwith rock, fuzz and wah wah-fueled psychedelia and more. Backin the day Morena & Clara's records were issued by the Discophon label. Awesome stuff!

Palmeira : Palmeira

Tropicalia-like music from a far from tropical country like Holland, does it exist? Of course not! However, between 1979 and the mid-'80s there was an exception. Palmeira was founded by Angelo Noce Santoro, some ten years after he was the guitarist of psych-prog legends Cosmic Dealer. On Palmeira's sole '83 album we hear early '70s-styled bossa, jazz and Latin flavoured songs, featuring beautiful female vocals and impressive musicianship. There are original compositions as well as covers of songs known from a.o. Caetano Veloso, Joao Gilberto and Rita Lee. Original copies of this self-released LP are incredibly rare, so this is a welcome reissue!

Poder Del Alma : Poder del alma

First ever reissue of this psychedelic Latin-funk holy grail from Nicaragua, 1974!! Poder del Alma ("Soul Power") was a supergroup formed by some of the best musicians from the Nica scene. This all-star band of nine members was assembled to play at the famous free concert of Santana in Managua in benefit for the 1972 earthquake. After that successful gig supporting the Latin-rock superstar, what was to be a one-night stand became the seed of the most loved Nicaraguan act from the '70s. All the members had already played an important role in the history of the Nica music/hippie scene in the 1960s. Among them, we can find Román Cerpas (previously on Bwana), René "Chapo" Domínguez (Los Rockets), Edgar "El Gato" Aguilar... A few months after the Managua concert with Santana, Poder Del Alma traveled to Guatemala to record their first long play for Dideca (Discos De Centroamérica, S.A.) in just one week of recording sessions. Despite the low budget and precarious recording equipment, the band managed to obtain a powerful psychedelic/Afro/funk-rock sound full of electric guitar, heavy drums, hot, percussion, horns, Spanish male/female vocals... featuring titles like 'El Valle Del Ayatimbo,' 'Ia-Taa Yo,' 'Zúmbale'... Santoro, Angelo Noce : For you

Here's the first ever reissue of a rare private press LP from 1979, recorded by guitarist Angelo Noce Santoro, formerly of Dutch (early '70s) psych/prog legends Cosmic Dealer. The music can be described as a Latin tinged funk-psych-prog trip, featuring groovy jazz flutes, superb acoustic/electric guitars, a funky rhythm section, exotic percussion and cool Oriental and Brazilian vibes. Angelo's unique guitar playing, which incorporates surf, psychedelic, jazz and Oriental influences, has received praising from connoisseurs of obscure instrumental sounds including Jello Biafra, who got in touch with Angelo after discovering one of his solo albums in a second-hand shop in the '80s. 'For You' was Angelo's first solo effort. He was joined by ace flute player Steven Bishop, drummer Herman Muller and Lodewijk Hulsman on acoustic guitar. Most of the tracks were written by Angelo way before 1979, with some of them even dating back to the days of Cosmic Dealer. In the '80s Angelo would be part of the notable group Palmeira.

Sarabia, Chelique : Revolucion 'electronica' en musica venezolana

In the early '70s, composer and arranger Chelique Sarabia decided to register an album of traditional and folkloric songs from Venezuela but giving them a modern touch. Chelique, helped by a team of gifted musicians, treated traditional instruments like the cuatro and the bandola llanera, filtering them through oscillators, playing with tape delay, synthesized frequencies and echoing sounds. Chelique and his team were considered electronic music pioneers in Latin America.

Tshibayi, Bibi Den's : Sensible

A great mix of zouk, Afro-funk and boogie from the Ivory Coast, originally released in 1983. The album has four long tracks, including the massive Afro-disco-boogie 'Africa Mawa'. 'Sensible' was recorded in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, after Denis Tshibayi was requested to play live there. The album was originally released first as a small private pressing in the Ivory Coast and later in France on the Tangent label. During that time, Denis Thsibayi also recorded for Earthworks/Rough Trade and in the following decades he recorded with Adrian Sherwood (On-U Sound Records). Khosh Amadid, friends, to this 4th volume in a series of compilations highlighting fiercely rare 45s from Tehran's pre-revolutionary golden age. Vivacious ladies with sassy Dorothy Hamill haircuts and skin-bearing pantsuits were once plastered across Tehran's newsstands. Those gorgeous sirens and their hunky male counterparts made all the teens sway to hand drums that boinked in 6/8 time. Plush brass & string arrangements took their cues from Latin grooves, psychedelic guitars, ritzy soundtracks, and sugary pop from the West. Within months of the 1979 Islamic revolution, pop music was labeled a symbol of the previous regime and became illegal overnight. In those same months, it also became illegal for women to be in public without conforming to the hijab dress code. By hook and crook, these little round records survived, and they attest to a time when Tehran's homegrown and exiled populations would have been united in an easygoing love for funk bass & buzzing synthesizers. Zangeneh, Pari : (blue) the series of music for young adults

'IRANIAN FOLK SONGS' - Travel back in time to the modern pre-revolution Teheran and dig this wonderful, ear-catching album from 1976 by Iranian female singer Pari Zangeneh. Traditional Persian folk songs with a lovely, sweet psychedelic flavor with the use of beautiful strings, flutes, charming and tasty drumming, some organ and orchestration, percussions... imagine a Persian version of Mellow Candle or Vashti Bunyan and you're there! Born in 1939 in Kermanshah (Iran), Pari Zangeneh is a soprano singer that lost her sight after a car accident in 1972. Her work over the years on restoring traditional Persian music and regional folk songs is invaluable. In 1976 she recorded this very unique album commissioned by Kanoon (Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults), a social organization that produced many kinds of materials (books, films, records) for children in Iran. The arrangements were done by Varoujan (famous for his work with Googoosh, Dariush, etc...). Sourced from the original masters. Comes in hard cardboard sleeve with obi and includes download card.
