Presented on this LP are recordings of the Fab Four's January 12th, 1964 appearance at the prestigious 'Sunday Night At The London Palladium' TV show and, few days later, at the Cinéma Cyrano in Versailles and L'Olympia in Paris. Hollies : Bbc sessions 1963-1964-1965

This LP features sixteen tracks from the Hollies' earliest extant BBC sessions never previously released, including a newly discovered date from 1963 featuring the group's original drummer Don Rathbone. But the opening of 1964's 'Something's Got A Hold On Me' shows how much Bobby Elliot's dynamic drumming improved the group's sound. The recordings are almost entirely live with Graham Nash and Allan Clarke perfecting their Everly Brothers-style harmonies, while virtuoso guitarist Tony Hicks plays rhythm and lead at the same time. From mid '65, the BBC had brought in more advanced recording equipment, so you can hear extra vocal overdubs and reverberation on songs such as 'Stay' and 'I'm Alive.' Sound quality is exceptional and thanks to AI, we have managed to erase all those annoying DJ talkovers at the start and end of each track. The album includes a stereo version of 'Yes I Will.'

Orbison, Roy -& The Candy Men- : Live in london 1964-1967

During the 1960s, Roy Orbison become even more popular in Europe than he had ever been in the States. He undertook numerous European tours, starting off in Britain in 1963 when he co-headlined with The Beatles. After two UK number ones in 1964, 'Oh, Pretty Woman' and 'It's Over,' Orbison was given his own TV show and the first six songs on side two of this record are taken from his October 21st performance on the ATV special The Roy Orbison Show. Roy clocked up a further nine British hits over the next couple of years, including 'Breaking Up Is Breaking My Heart' (#22 January 1966) and 'Twinkle Toes' (#29 April 1966), both featured here on side one, from a live session cut for BBC radio on April 4th 1966. The album is completed by four tracks from each of his 1966 and 1967 performances at the London Palladium. Recording quality is excellent.

Rendell / Carr Quintet : Bbc jazz club session april 1965

At its heart the Rendell/Carr Quintet had one of the leading British jazz musicians of the post-war era - saxophonist Don Rendell - whose CV included work with American big hitters such as Woody Herman and Stan Kenton. Around him he had gathered four younger, more adventurous jazzmen, all wishing to push the envelope of the music. This session captures a moment that, without any hint of sleeve note hyperbole, can rightly be called historic. That moment is the April 19th 1965 debut within the Rendell/Carr ranks of pianist Michael Garrick, a musician who was - again with no little sense of overstatement - to quite literally change the course of the group's direction, and it can be argued with some conviction, that of the wider sound of British jazz. The overall fidelity on this recording is excellent and pressed on 180 gram vinyl.
