Wellman, Ian : The night the stars fell

The fourth album by Ian Wellman, and his Ash International debut, 'The Night The Stars Fell' is built from field recordings from the forests and deserts of Southern California, shortwave radio static, and cassette tape loops layered in distortion. The eleven tracks across the album are carried by the physicality of wind which drives the fires that burned the forests where the sounds were recorded. 'The Night The Stars Fell explores a time of rebuilding, of searching for a new path'.

For the first time on CD. Stanislaw Wenglorz's debut album from 1983, supplemented with 6 additional recordings. The album portrays the artistic activity of Stanislaw Wenglorz in the period when he departed from the pop-rock sound of the '70s towards an intriguing mix of rock with music characteristic of the first half of the '80s. The actual album is complemented by six additional recordings, including three slightly new wave songs recorded with musicians of the ZOO group; two recordings made with the band Flesz; and an alternative version of one track from his LP. The publisher of the album is the German company Info & Tips Verlag, and Kameleon Records only helped in its preparation and distributes the album. 15 recordings, over 62 minutes of music!

Werewolf Jerusalem : The nightmares

'The Nightmares' continue on with Richard Ramirez's trademark tradition of Giallo influenced static noise terror. The contextual direction of this album puts the senses through a state of disturbing 'calm' by taking on its own story of a 'horror movie'. The frequent and sudden shifts of sound variations, samples of female shrieks, movie dialogues, static walls, pulsating buzzes, low frequency drones and textural noise layers of tightly spaced crackles sounding almost like one complete tonal resonance, and the sudden blast of explosive harsh white noise make this the most appropriate accompaniment to an environment of terror. The constant evolving and low growling frequencies and dynamic audio elements deliver that shocking atmosphere of sheer violence and skin crawling anxiety. Edition of 200 copies.

Westing : Future

Late in 2021, Slow Season announced they'd become Westing, and that Ben McLeod (also of Nashville's All Them Witches) was now in the four-piece on lead guitar alongside guitarist, vocalist and keyboardist Daniel Story Rice, bassist Hayden Doyel and drummer/recording engineer Cody Tarbell. Their 2023 LP (fourth overall for RidingEasy), 'Future,' is not coincidentally titled. Says Rice, "We wanted to hit the reset button on some things and so we included a new band name to that list. Fresh start, for the psychological effect of it. We first met Ben in 2014 opening for All Them Witches in San Diego, and we did that again in 2016 and he and Cody corresponded about tape machines, music production, and other similar nerd stuff. We started swapping a few ideas early in 2021 and then flew him out for four days in August 2021. We got 'Future' mostly down in that short span and did some remote stuff for overdubs, but nothing major. Obviously, our creative processes jelled pretty well to allow for such an efficiently productive session." So the story of Westing, and of 'Future,' is about change, but the music makes itself so immediately familiar, it's so welcoming, that it hardly matters. For about 10 years, the Visalia, California, outfit wandered the earth representing a new generational interpretation of classic heavy rock. The tones, warm. The melodies, sweet. The boogie, infectious. They went to ground after supporting their 2016 self-titled third album, and clearly it was time for something different. For fans of Led Zeppelin, All Them Witches, Rival Sons, Great Von Fleet.

For fans of IRM, early Haus Arafna, and STROM.ec, Wet Nurse. create a disorienting, visceral sound that melds structure with chaos, and ripples with angst, tension and intensity. Ten Thousand Miles Of Arteries follows with 4 tracks of soul blackening, brooding arrangements, teeming with malevolent, noir-ish ambience and corrosive drones, sprinkled with darkened melodies and structure, and propelled forth by percussion and vocals that cut through a haze of reverb and distortion. It's a deftly crafted, emotionally harrowing and bleak listen, ever so vaguely reminiscent of early Navicon Torture Technologies even while coming off as wholly unique.

With 2021's 'The Black Stone Affair' this instrumental outfit traversed the cinematic landscape of an imaginary 1970s spaghetti western. The follow-up 'Palace Of A Thousand Sounds' finds Whatitdo Archive Group entrenched deeper in the worlds of mid-20th century exotica and library music, dragging in influences from the Tropicalia-steeped Amazon to the minor key tonalities of the far-out Near East.

White Rabbit Dynamite : Psi

WHITE RABBIT DYNAMITE play heavy psychedelic rock in the tradition of early '70s rock. Influences such as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Jimi Hendrix can not be denied.
