The three musicians have played and toured together for many years in different constellations. They have a long musical and personal friendship and therefore a special mutual understanding, which helps when it comes to the art of playing improvised open and responsive jazz music. In 2017 they formed Hess Winter Huntley, the trio, who played a series of concerts in Japan, Denmark and Finland. In connection with Copenhagen Winter jazz 2018, they played several concerts and recorded the material for their new CD “YOU”. The group’s repertoire is compositions by Hess and Winter as well as selected standard melodies. An open fresh sound, close combination, new arrangements, and a personal interpretation of the music. All musicians, together and individually, have many jazz credentials: tours throughout most of the world, CD releases and other exciting projects, e.g. collaborates with Kenny Wheeler, Mulgrew Miller, Cameron Brown & Lars Jansson. The music can be described as contemporary Nordic jazz with a touch of New York.
